Players now using a Cue Extesion Full Time

I briefly tried the Balance Rite, liked the added length (that's what she said) but felt weird with the weight distribution. I don't even like shafts that are over 4.0 oz or so, at 4.2 or 4.3 I notice and the balance feels like it shift too much forward, that same feel was greatly accentuated with the extension in the middle.

Concept is great though, and that same issue I have with the balance might be a benefit for others. Could also be cue dependent. I know if someone was paying me to use one I would certainly get over myself... :)

Just seems like a middle extension would change the hit of the cue so much more than a rear ext or simply a longer cue

I've used the same set-up on my R-360 as Shane for a few years. It's butt heavy and I'm only 5' 6" (probably 5' 5" now) and I got use to it fast. Hardly ever have to use the bridge or shoot off balance with a bad bridge. Johnnyt

I added the Balance Rite a few months ago and got used to it very quickly.

I just picked up 4" Schuler Extension (in the middle also) that should become my main setup.

I have a 14" extension for my cue that screws into the back. Makes my 59" cue 73". I use it once in a while but I take it on and off as needed. Thinking about getting a 5" extension to leave on all the time and still be able to swap it out for the big extension.

Been practicing with my "Balance Rite" for about a week now.

My cue is now 62.5" long the balance of the is now at 21" measured from the butt. The cues weight has now increased to 19.4 oz.

After watching Mikka play with one at the Nick Varner Classic I had to get one to test.

I like it. Now the cues weight feels more evenly distributed along the length rather than all the weight being felt in my grip hand.

Here is an interesting read I ran across.

Have fun, and thanks to the OP.

Extra Weight?

I briefly used a Balance-Rite. I didn't think the issue was so much with the balance as it was with the extra weight. IIRC it added 2.5 ounces to the cue.

I know a couple players in SacTown who have played many years with
screw-in Extensions custom made (by Tom Coker) to match their Cues.

I only play with 60" cues (since 2004) and love them.

I am also using a middle extension! But, you said "players."

Hey Freddie,

Did it take you a while to get used to it? I picked up a Balance Rite a few weeks ago but it seemed to throw my game off (more).

I felt the Balance Rite made my 58" cue feel just a little too long and too forward balanced at 62". My stroke and game just felt off when using it. So...I grabbed an old house cue, cut it down to a 27" butt and added a joint screw, and put the balance right on. The butt with extension is now 31", and with a 29" shaft, the cue is now 60". The forward weight of the extension balances much more nicely on the rear weighted sneaky. I like this combo.

I have a 4 inch joint extension being made now... Not sure if I'm going to use it a lot... just kinda wanted one.

I am only 5'-6" tall with a short pokey stroke similar to Allen Hopkin. That being said I am having a 60" cue built at 30" butt and 30" shaft. I am currently using a 59" that I moved too from a 58" cue and it seems to have helped my stroke and game overall. I am hoping that the 60" cue lengthens my stroke even slightly more. We shall see once my cue is completed.

I actually bought one of the r360s like Shane has simply so I could try the cue with the 6" extension... That was a few months ago and I now carry the craptastic cuetech to the pool room instead of my normal player.... Had to cut the everest off it and put on one of my Ki-tech softs of course =)

What I learned was that my stroke was not near straight enough with that much cue... It took a few sessions but I am 100% sure it has straightened my stroke out and with the added length and weight getting around the table is easier than it ever was... The only place I can say it is problematic is trying to jack up and jump or masse the ball small amounts... For those shots I will take the extension off....

It flies in the face of everything we are taught as youngsters playing snooker and E8b in the UK. The last thing you want is weight waving around behind your gripping hand and fighting against the line you are cueing down. Maybe it doesn't matter in this scenario and the extra weight behind your hand gives you a purer strike.

I have a 6" and 10" extension(rear) and they both felt great immediately. After playing with the 10" and removing it, cue feels like a jump cue lol. Won't go back to playing without them.
