you know who im talking about. that guy in the pool hall who never shuts up. always has something to say about almost every shot, every game, always knows the answer...been there, done that kinda guy. anyway, i hate playing this kind of player. when i am playing, i am almost speechless. unless i call a pocket, im not talking. i respect others while they shoot and i expect the same.
anyway, we just started up our 9 weeks of tournaments last week. nothing major, just a small town room with 5 tables. i lucked out a win on the first night. this past friday was the second tournament. i felt good and was playing well, still confident from my last performance. long story short...this guy named (we will call him T) T is playing in the tournament and as usual is flapping his lips the whole time. bragging about most all his shots and talking crap when others miss. luckily we started on opposite sides of the winners bracket. the more and more i hear him thru the night the more i get frustrated. he ends up getting put to the one loss side right before the final 2. i end up on the hot seat and have to wait an hour and a half while he finishes out the losers side. him and i are the final 2. first set, i dont win a game. im so pissed i cant shoot. i ask the tournament director if there is anything she can do to shut him up and she just warns him not to keep it up. second set is back and forth. i need one game to win. i run out an easy table, miss my position, and leave a long cut shot on the 8. he says "you know if you miss this were all going to laugh at you". i make the shot and blow up at him. i said a lot of things i shouldnt have said but i held it in all night. i get my money and am about to leave when he stops me in the doorway and tries to shake my hand saying "its all fun and games dont take it personal" and that its part of pool, i need to grow up and play with the big boys. i wanted to be the crap out of him so bad.
i left so mad. got home and threw a couple around on the table and started to calm down. i realize people wont always be polite and maybe i wasn't expecting it. im looking back on it and laughing about it now. its funny how stupid stuff gets under your skin so easily. i cant wait till next week if he shows up again. how do you react nicely to people like this? the tournament director should have thrown him out as far as im concerned. well thanks for listening, just my turn for a little rant
