now that i realized that my playing cue is warped. i decide to get a new one.

can anyone recommend me a playing cue thats lightweight cause i find most pool cues really heavy(as im used to playing snooker) and i need the butt to be slightly thinner than most pool cues.

Im on a tight budget so dont recommend me cues like southwest, lol.

thanks

well you can get any cue at any weight you want so that isnt a factor.

what is your budget? you will get a number of different answers as people use different cues by different manufacturers.

me personally i happen to love my ob cue. i feel that the butt is a little thinner than a mcdermotte

Samsara Barcue is my recommendation. Its a cored and weighted cue...beautiful exotic woods, and same playability as their 3 to 5k cues.

Be wary of all advice you receive on this forum. Cues are hugely subjective and personal.

I recommend you try as many as you can, and buy from somewhere that offers a return service, if at all possible.

As you're from a snooker background, how do you get on with cues that deflect? If it doesn't worry you, get any cue you fancy. If you're not used to it, you might be better off with a production low deflection cue, like a Mezz or a Predator.

well im now used to pool cues deflection just not the weight/butt's diameter.

which one among schon or samsara(or any if recommended)has lighter weight and thinner butts?

thanks

I recommend hitting with as many different types of cues as possible. The right cue for an APA 4 may not be the right cue for a 7, or even Efern or Earl. Try hitting an object ball two dimonds away from the cueball and bring the cue ball back to its original starting point. This is an easy way to test a cue even if you can't chalk the tip you can still do this simple cue trial. I hope you find what you like. Only you will know what you like.

They do not have Schon available for test, I tried a few cues. I ended up getting the Mezz Axi-N. I don't really know how well it is, I like the weight, feels smooth, but can't try how well it performs because I cant put a chalk on the tip.

Edit: What do you guys think of the Mezz Axi-N with the WD700 shaft, anyone played with one before?

Diveney sneaky. The butts are usually a little thinner and I think you can get a new one from pat for something ridiculous like $360 or so.

I have. You've chosen well.

the mezz cues are excellent, best production cue made IMO. they are also slightly thinner in the butt, which was what you were looking for. the wd700 is an excellent shaft....on the stiffer side if you like that, very good low deflection performance, and a good hit with lots of feedback. you can adjust the weight to your liking, there is a weight bolt under the bumper. most mezz cues can go down to around 18oz, maybe even lighter on some cues.

I have the Mezz Axi-N and love it. The WD700 shaft with a Kamui blk soft tip gives me great control and feel. It's a very solid feeling cue, medium hit, butt tapers from 26.4mm to 30.2 in the wrap.

I have 4 cues and this the one I would choose to keep if I had to give up all the others.

The lightest I can make it is 17.75 oz. I play with it at 18.25 oz.

Good choice. Mezz are top quality and th. WD700 is an excellent shaft. I use that shaft on a schon butt. Good choice.

I'm glad you found a cue you like in 11 hours and 32 minutes.
Now go play until you become one with the cue.

+1 for the mezz (see my sig for details). Excelent ballance and solid (not dead) hit.

I prefer wd700 shaft over predator anytime.

That's what I was thinking. He doesn't piss about, this lad. It took me many months of prevarication before I finally plucked up the courage to buy the first cue I didn't like. I bought the second I didn't care for around a month later, and now buy them on a near daily basis.

Just The Tip

So what did you end up with Bill after all?

My search isn't over yet.
I'm playing very good with an HXT4 right now. It has been sinking some balls, but doesn't have as stiff of a hit and as much feel as I would like.
I have a late 70's or early 80's wrapless Huebler on the way.
I hit five new cues today. I'll post some brief reviews.
Didn't love any of them, but I found one I hated.
It was a Rage with an implex joint. It hit like a 58" rubber hose.
To the OP.
Does your Mezz have a weight bolt in the butt?
You can get the butt/handle turned down to your liking and then see if you still need to adjust the weight, but less expensive to do that on a wrapless cue.
By the way OP. You're allowed to chalk your Mezz after you purchase it.
Try chalking just the tip.
