playing differences regular cue vs. snooker cue

You can do more with less on the snooker cue, meaning you can stay closer to the center of the CB to get desired english...closer to the center you stay the straighter you shoot.

Mostly I agree with Scott on this, BUT games like One Pocket which include much banking are more difficult if you use spin when shooting bank shots....sole reason being the english is magnified with the smaller snooker cue tip. Thats if you switch cues tho, if you were used to the Snooker cue tip diameter then eventually the english adjustment would not be a problem.

Its also a Pain in the butt shooting on the BB with the smaller and heavy aramith ball (green logo), I find the snooker shaft doesn't have as much endmass so it wants to push that little heavy CB instead of poping it off the tip. So i don't use my snooker cue on the BB.

All in all in regards to 8/9/10 ball and such games I love shooting runout games with the snooker cue as i can stay center of the CB which is great.

I keep my snooker cue on me at all times, its the TRIPLE NUTS for SUPER CUT SHOTS and other delicate fine shots....its all about the FINER AIM.

AIM SMALL, MISS SMALL....thats what a snooker cue is all about

hope that helps,

Thank you for taking the time to explain your experience to me. That really does help...I was curious as to why I haven't seen too many people playing with the snooker cue. I really like it..but notice that long straight shots and shooting off the rail are not as consistent for me. Another question...does the snooker cue shaft play like a traditional shaft or is it more like a predator? Are we allowed to switch cues during a match? Thanks again for any input.

It'll play more like the predator in regards to CB Squirt. Its got very low endmass probably even lower than a predator.

Pool cues are made the way they are for a reason. I can play good pool with my snooker cue, but I'll never feel as comfortable on the table with it as I am with my pool cue. And I couldn't fathom playing my best snooker with a pool cue.

What snooker cue do you have?

Its actually a custom, the first cue I built with Joel Weinstock back in 2004 when I first started apprenticing in his shop in Tulsa.

Brunswick 4pt Rosewood Conversion

11mm @tip
Modified Conical Taper
18.5" balance
58"
19.5oz
CA finish

If you notice the shaft is shorter than the butt. So the butt is LONGER than normal. Cue is sweetly stiff, and not to toot my horn or anything (or Joels) but I've never seen a straighter cue in my life and I've seen many. Roll it on the rail and the EKG reads dead. At the time I didn't know how to properly finish with the CA much less to get that super shine(obvious from the bottom photo lol), now I know how (thanks to my friend Sung!) so I will soon refinish it as the Rosewood is extremely pretty, very very red tone to it.

It will never be for sale, wonderful shooter with quite a many dead bodies to its name

Grey Ghost

WOW Keeb! I just noticed the star on the bottom of your snooker cue. I didn't notice that when I saw that cue, when I was at your house last Nov.! That is the same star that Randyg has on the bottom of his Jerico custom cue. I thought it was something that Jerry Powers came up with!

Of course it can, I got another shaft from my regular player that fits on my snooker cue. You can do vice versa no problem
