When players look down the line of the ball to check a safety, or snooker, when the next player is getting ready to, or is assessing the table, or even getting down on the shot. Some players run, dance and crouch over a safety played, or a ball that's hooked, when they should just sit the F down... It's annoying enough in casual games, or games for petty cash. But when the shot clock is on, it's literally using someone's time, of which is limited.

I personally dislike it, though I cannot say there is not the odd time where I have done this myself. Should it be ok to have a look? Is it sharking? Should your opponent sit the F down? The table isn't changing because they have a look... but the tempo of the game, the psychology of the opponent/situation could change as a result.

I am curious on others thoughts.

Feel like we are singing from the same hymn sheet. Lately, when we are at opposite ends of the table, I have started to give them a little wave down the line. Which I find quite funny.

I will go up to see if a ba ll is frozen to the rail, bcz the onus is on me to declare it before opponent shoots. Other than that, I get the hell out of the way

I think in an informal game, a couple of seconds of leave checking is ok. Peering and staring and sighting is not ok. An exception is snooker where you might be required to approve the restored position.

What I find even more annoying is when players fail to get position, they have to point their cue to the spot on the table where they were trying to get to, and look all defeated because they didn't get there.

Like bro, everyone watching knows exactly where you wanted to be, we know you didn't intend to hook yourself. It makes no sense to me when they try to prove that they're not incompetent. It's so unnecessary and you don't gain anything from it. You played a bad shot, move on.

They also do it when they get on the wrong side of the ball, it's like they think we have no idea what kind of angle they needed to get to the next ball when it's painfully obvious.

I do also find this annoying, but it doesn't distract or get in the way like wandering round the table. Getting into line of sight and wasting time when it's not their turn anymore.

Not establishing that they play for specific results is too much to fade. I think Parica pioneered the move - obviously on to something.

he's talking about people that get all dramatic, jumping up in your line to check if a ball is frozen.
