Playing Pool Rehabilitation for Loss of Index Finger and Thumb

Popeye...I am astonished that 3 weeks after your traumatic injury, you're not only back at the table, and playing...but playing well! Bravo! Way to keep your mind off of it. My yoga instructor friend says that you should do yoga too...it will help. Best of luck in your recovery and rehabilitation! :D

I like this guy's attitude. :yeah:

Pop open a can of spinach and kick some ass!

That is a hell of a thing to go through. Amazing you're back playing so soon after.

Thank you for sharing this and, yes, please do keep us posted on your progress.

And a shout out to Brian (bmccaslin) who suffered a similar injury,

Best wishes to both of you men.

best,
brian kc

"Pop open a can of spinach and kick some ass!" - Love it!!!

I provided an update on the first post, with a pic of my hand; blurred out the gross parts.

Cheers, Mark

Thanks Scott... I have no pain, just the index finger is pretty well useless and gets in the way. I posted a pic on the first post to show folks what I'm dealing with. I'm getting quite used to it, but may do the ray amputation to remove the whole stub in 6-9 months.

One thing you may have luck with is a break sleeve like some of the asians use... I will google around and find a photo.. They are hard to find in the states but someone will have them and if not I will get the material in the proper size to have one made... The good ones are actually more than just a cloth sleeve and have some structure to them to keep the cue online.... I have about a dozen samples of materials but I never got around to having any made as the fad came and went fast in the states... Someone came out with like a $50 sleeve that is neat but I am not sure if it would be better than what was out.... Think chinese handcuffs......

On the 8fts, during league, my break is fine, but on my 7ft at home, I was losing control. There isn't as much room behind the head string to frame up, so this could be an issue. I will play some more this weekend and see how it goes. I never seen a break sleeve.

These are no longer made but there are others still sold in Asia... Wang Can and Kevin Cheng both use them from time to time.....

Not sure how this helps but the stuff is made for protecting hose and tubes from abrasive action.
Here's one example of where its made.

Locate an industrial hose and or tubing distributor for a couple samples. Or go to Amazon. Search "Braided Hose Sleeve."
