Playing ther Ghost in bank pool

Does anyone know of a game where you play the ghost in bank pool? I came up with one, but don't know if it's really a fair test. Every time I miss, the ghost gets a ball, nine ball bank, race to 5. Is there as better version of a bank game against the ghost?

That sounds about right. I think that ghost game was mentioned on 1p.org a while back. I give it a go here and there, but tend to get interrupted midway to play somebody. It's not as easy as it sounds. If you get a bad spread, you can get hosed real quick.

You suck

Not as easy as it sounds!? It sounded tough to me, I envy you :(

I couldn't think of anything worse than playing the bank ghost, I completely suck at banking and avoid it like the plague.

Thanks for the replies. I do pretty well at it, winning about half the time. Don't know if that's decent or not. It sure makes you concentrate on the shot, that's for sure.

If you are playing the Bank Ghost wouldn't the Ghost get the entire rack when you miss?

That's why I stick to banking. When you shoot 33%, at least make those few shots look nice!

Trade you some accuracy for some banking.

For whatever reason, I can bank well when messing around or playing somebody else, but just about every time I'd start playing the ghost, I'd miss more.. well, it seemed like more anyhow. I think I came close to beating the ghost once, not sure. Now that I've got Diamonds ( 7' ), I'll give it another shot, maybe this weekend.

Even the ghost can't bank that well!

I think one of the suggestions that was posted on 1p.org was after you begin beating the ghost going to 5 balls/misses, start handicapping it so that you only get 4 misses and so on. That'll tighten your drawers right quick.

One pocket will bring most people up to speed on banks and kicks.

If you really want to improve your banks there are several good training tools.

I like to just throw 10 balls out and if I miss throw them up again. That is how I usually get loose and warm up. After that I can work on something I am struggling with on that day. Sounds basic but it should give you a pretty good idea of what needs improvement and you could keep track somehow if you wanted. I don't like to waste time writing anything down while I can hit balls. Table time is already expensive enough.

Bank pool is way more than making banks... Unless you are Shannon Murphy in Tunica last year or it may have been derby.. You won't learn where to leave whitey to be safe but it would still be a good test for players that don't play banks often..

Playing the ghost would be all offensive and you would be going into the banking patch...

I would say 2 innings to get 5 should be right if you are getting ball in paw off the break... Maybe Johnny B will be along to chime in on it but I expect a cpl of 5 and outs a night playing with a friend of mine when we go into bank pool mode and we aren't even in Kentucky... We are in Tennessee.. but we don't count kicks LOL....

Have been beaten leading to -3 and had the guy bank 8 and out from dead...... Figuring the ghost is banking from dead so he ought to get out in 2 innings.....

Short rack is a little more offensive-minded. It's about the same kind of thing as playing the 9b ghost - shoot, shoot and shoot some more. Skylar may be a better example of guns-a-blazing.

Playing the bank ghost in 2-inning games would be very impressive. There is no BiH. You'd have to get a nice spread and just start firing away, missing only once in 6 shots. I may not be anywhere near Kentucky, but if you can take the ghost down in a race to 5 or more doing that, I want no part of you at all.

I can run a 4 or 5 on a Diamond box, but from having tried this a bit in the past, it's not as easy as it sounds. Just because I can pull it off here and there, doesn't mean I'm going to get the spread for it every time, the leaves, etc. 8 and out is pretty strong. If you get a couple of 5-outs a night, are you just playing for an hour or so or are you playing for 3, 4 or 5 hours?

I'll be checking out my third Accustats bank pool DVD tonight - Daulton vs Varner, I think. The last one I watched there were a bit of misses. Some of those guys go off and make everything in their match(so it seems), but there are some matches where they seem to be struggling to put something together. Even those pros would be hard-pressed to beat a 2-turn ghost often enough. The ones that can do it regularly will probably be placing high.

I agree, I'd like to hear a little bit from the Grand Banker himself.
