Thanks for all the great replys........if i had the money i would buy one...... But i would play w/it.....i am not the person to buy a collectable and not show or use it.....i just like the nostalgia effect......i am not as good a player as most of u i am sure....so if the Bushka didn't hit too well it wouldn't matter much to me....... thanks Merry Christmas

Actually, that was a Joss East!

Here is a Funny :D /:( Not so funny story about that cue. A buddy of mine had one of those Balabushka replicas that Joss made for the Color of Money. He got it from Joss as a thank you for his business or something like that.

Anyway, he had it at this bar and was showing it to a group of us, when one of our other friends was getting a bet going at one of the tables. He came over and asked if he could use it. So as we were watching the game, this guy he was playing was being a real jerk and talking smack. When our friend finally beat him, he set the cue on the table, laughed at the hot head, collected the money, and then made a smart aleck comment (I'm sorry I don't remember what was said).

Next thing I know the jerk has that cue in his hands and said, "You guys think it's funny, huh?" *CRAAAAACK* The jerk just snapped the cue over his knee. It broke below the joint in the arm of the cue, not where the shaft was.

Feeling the devastation and stunned with shock, we all were like, "Do you know what you just did?"

The guy said, "I don't care," and threw the cue at our feet and walked out.

All I said as we stood there quietly looking at the cue at our feet was, "whatever you won off that guy, I think you better give it to him for the use of his cue." Without hesitation he just slid his hand over to my buddy with the money in it. $5.00 :(

That Mark, put his Mottey down, huh?

I think he does it for the nostalgia... but at his room he plays with either a Mottey or the Bushka. He feels the playability is similar.

That would be like playing with a persimmon golf club versus a Big Bertha metal driver. Technology has improved so much, it would be senseless to play with an antique cue, unless you wanted to start conversation.
Certainly true, but could the age of the wood have a positive effect on the playability? Perhaps give it a softer hit? I ask because I just received my Hoppe rebuild, and despite an SS joint, it hits nice and soft. Jerry R said it could be the age of the wood, but uncertain. If so, perhaps you can take advantage of today's technology and yesterday's blanks to come up with a nice players cue that has a great vintage look.
