please help id wood

i cut this from an old one piece brunswick and am really not sure of the wood, its kinda weird, is there such a thing as spalted shedua? this piece feels about the same weight as maple. any guesses? thanks chuck

Gancalo Alves frequently shows very similar variations, but the darker portions usually aren't as dark as the example that you have.
 
wood ID

I have some long "rosewood" dowels that I believe I bought from Prather a few years ago. I was told it was from the Palmer factory after it closed. Some looked just like the wood in this photo. I thought it was Goncolo Alvis but now I'm not so sure. The dark parts are really dark and the definition between colors is very clear, not blurred or muted like Goncolo. I'd love to know what it is too. I believe it's the same wood.
I also have some black and white ebony, almost "dot" ebony, which looks like this. The grain in the tan part sure looks like GA though.
