Hello, I recently refinished and re-wrapped this cue for a customer. He claims that he purchased the cue in the Middle 1980's and unsure of the cues model. I tried to research the cue and figure out what model and the time frame it was made.

The main thing that throws me off are the cues points. They have rounded ends, not sharp points, so I suspect that the cue has either Pantograph points or CNC inlay-ed points. But the Stitch rings at the joint make the cue appear to be from the R-Series.

Did Schon use Pantograph points or CNC points during the R-Series?

Oh and by the way, the cue also has a Old style Macarta Ferrule that was Yellow, however due to scratches and nicks i had to clean it.

Here are the photo's:

Thanks Craig

Hi Craig This looks like a custom order . Don't match any thing I can find. I've had 3 R series and all had very sharp points. I have heard you can still order a Schon with maple dash rings. Nice cue. I like it a lot. Jim

I thought that also, however, the cues shaft has the Old Macarta Ferrule that Yellowed. This material was only used on the first two schon catalogs, and this cue is not in either one.

Thanks for the input Jim, and have a nice night!!!!

Hi Craig,

Just my $.02 on this cue. It looks like a circa 1989 -1990 custom order to me. This is just the beginning of the Pantograph era.

They still had some micarta at this time and plenty of shafts that had been completed previously. Many customers were requesting the stitched rings after the silver became standard. I have owned quite a few cues from this era and love the way most of them play.

Still meaning to make it down to Lakewood and bring you a few cues that need help.

Thanks much for the input bill, I think you are most likely correct, because I have all the original catalogs from the beginning of Schon cues until the Mid-1990's and I can not find the design. Hope to see you soon and have a good night!!!!

Oh and by the way, the was originally purchased in Seattle, and is still in the hands of the original owner.
