Please help me find IPT player Michael Landry--I received his winnings check

Attention pool world, especially Michael Landry if you're out there:

When I received my order for two DVDs from the IPT web store, I also received a second package, containing a winnings check for Michael Landry. That package contained not just the check but an envelope that had "Return to Sender--Unable to Forward" on it. Seems the IPT couldn't find Michael, so they sent his winnings check to me instead.

I'm sure if I really wanted to, I could find a way to cash it, but I'm a nice person and want to get it to Michael. If you know him, please contact me with a PM. If you ARE him, even better.

In order to prove you're really Michael Landry, be prepared to tell me at least one of the following, and preferably all three:

1) Your old address (the one on the check itself, which the post office says is no longer yours). Or,

2) The amount of money the IPT still owes you (because the note attached to the check tells me not just what you won, but how much of it they've already paid). Or,

3) The amount of the check (based on the idea that Trudeau or somebody told you what to expect).

Thanks in advance for your help, folks.

I just looked on the IPT website and there is no player by that name listed as a tour card holder. Maybe it is a refund for a qualifier or something.

That KT is such a kidder....PM me and I will give you my address. Thanks for being so honest  Just kidding.....Its probably a check from a lawsuit.

Good thought, but it absolutely seems to be a partial payment of money owed. The notes sheet connected to the check states that the IPT owes Michael X dollars, and this is a payment of Y dollars, and there is still Z dollars left to be paid. The full payment owed is more than a refund for a qualifier would be.

I guess I'll have to talk to the IPT directly again. I'd have done that first, except it seems like they can't find this guy either, based on the "return to sender" message on the original envelope.

You know, it's also possible this guy is a table mechanic or something, and not a player. Again, if anyone knows him, please PM me.

It might help if you told us what part of the country it was supposed to be mailed to

Good point. Humble, TX is where Michael Landry used to live, apparently.

Thanks.

My question is - why did they send it to YOU?

It sounds like, from your original post, that you don't even know the guy.

Are you just in the same general area and they figured you could do the legwork for them and find him?

Very odd. And scary.

Nice to see some honest people that do the right thing.

reminds me,..just last night i was at a drive up atm machine waiting to get the $$$ i need to go gamble at the pool hall,..the car in front of me left, i drove up to the machine and it said "do you want another transaction?"..i just pushed no to get to the home screen and their atm card popped out of the machine!...dont think i could have got money out of it anyways cuz i would need their pin #, but i didnt even try..they never came back and bank was closed..reminds me..gotta take it back now... rep for me!! lol

Happy ending to this sordid little saga!

Hey everyone.

Someone from the IPT saw this thread and called me at work. (They got my work number from the form I filled out when I ordered those two DVDs.) Turns out they have found Michael, so I'm going to mail the check back to my IPT contact, and they'll take it from there.

So reps to Aaron Bruno-Lewis at IPT for calling me and fixing this--and also, of course for lurking at AZB. AZB comes through again! :)

Two notes on this... First of all, if you had said "yes" to another transaction you would've been able to make a withdrawal without a pin. I know that for sure.

Second, all new ATM's have a feature that if you leave your card without a response for more than a few minutes, it takes the card into the machine and eats it, so what you described can't happen. You must've pulled up quickly!

lol at this entire thread.
A) once agian, good to see the IPT on top of things

He stated he was waiting in line in the drive up atm. I am sure he would have just pulled up after the car left (so within a few seconds not a matter of minutes). So what he described is completely possible and has happened to me as well. Lucky for the girl who left her card in the machine with me - she pulled up and stopped (probably putting her money away or whatever). I got her card out of the machine and honked my horn until she noticed I was honking at her. She came and got her card and thanked me.

A quick search of the internet reveals no Michael Landry in Humble Tx but there is a Michael Landry in Tomball Tx which isn't far from Humble. Looks like he is a dentist.

Not that I care, but it's considered bad form to place someone's name, address, and phone number on the internet, for everyone to see, without at least consulting them first.

Even if they are owed a large amount of money.
