This cue by Steve Kornele has been my regular player for almost 11yrs now. There are some odd lines and indentations around the ring work and a couple of inlay issues. Can someone tell me what caused this and will a simple refinish fix it? If not, what do I need to do? Thanks.

ps - I've sent an inquiry to Mr Kornele, but haven't heard back from him.

Yeah, gotta agree with Kim.....11 years and the battle scars are now there...get it refinished and you'll be very happy. If the original builder doesn't reply, I would suggest Ryan from Muellers...aka Ratcues here on AZ...He does a great job.

They've been there pretty much from the beginning. I should have sent it back and had it fixed, but I was younger, hated hassles and was just so excited to have my first nice custom. At arms length the cue looked fine so I dealt with it. After 11yrs, however, I feel it's time for a refinish. I just wanted to make sure that would clear the issues up. Thanks for your help with this!

By the way, I may take the advice for letting RAT cues do the work ( also thinking I may swap the linen wrap for a stacked leather wrap...those look nice). I've heard nothing but positives about him. But, what about Proficient Billiards for a refinish...better, worse, on par?

Scott at Proficient Billiards does a great job as well. He has done work for me and exceeded my expectations.

I fully agree the cue needs to be sent in for a refinish...........
If you want to rub out 80 or 90 % of those scratches yourself then.

Wrap the irish linin wrap off with construction paper or something like it.
Go down to the auto parts store a buy a bottle of Meguiars #9 number 2.0
swirl remover ( POLISHING CREAM ) NOT RUBBING COUMPOUND and a bottle of Meguiars show glaze.
Take old T shirt cut it into rags about 4 inches square and get after it.

Don't get this in your wrap It will dull the color of the wrap, trust me on this...
This will clean up your cue allot and the products cost about 30 bucks.
PS pull your rubber bumper and don't polish the edge of your joint without the shaft being screwed on tight and even then I would stay away from the edge of the joint any way.
Don't use this on stainless steel joints .........

You dont need to apply tons of pressure and don't polish in one spot.
Do long even strokes and expect to hand polishing your cue out is going to take a few hours, like 6 or more hours at least.

And don't polish thru the finish.:D

Sounds like a lot of work! I'd rather play with my cue than work on it (lol) so I'll just plan on getting it refinished after the holidays.

Thanks again for all of your help!
