PLEASE help with a poor sport (wife)

I’m in a similar situation, but I’m lucky in that my wife is just a few steps behind me in ability. Like your wife, mine gets upset with constantly losing. She’s also a perfectionist and is her own harshest critic.

As others have said, definitely get her some professional instruction. My wife and I have taken some lessons together and this past summer we attended Dr. Dave’s Billiard University. Taking lessons together will help both of you follow up on those aspects that you each need to work on. If she knows your weaknesses and can assist in coaching them out of you, she’ll be more apt to be receptive to your coaching. Additionally, when you have somebody look for flaws in your stroke, that person becomes more conscious and introspective of their own stroke flaws.

Also, get into a handicapped league so she can start to win and develop some in-league rivalries. This will channel her perfectionist tendencies while giving her more realistic goals. She’ll be able to see continuous improvement and that will motivate her further. If she only plays you and you both improve, her win rate won’t get any better and she’ll continue to be discouraged. If she sees herself improving against league opponents, she’ll keep working at it.

My wife and I do drills and practice together nearly every day, it’s great to have an opponent that’s always ready and willing to compete with. Put the effort into making it work, it’s definitely worth it!

I've been married to the same woman for 41 years not counting the 1 1/2 years we played house. One thing I learned the hard way is don't give lessons to your wife and or don't compete with your wife.
We don't play pool together but we've played racket ball, separately, bowled together, table tennis, I spotted her and biked together. Bowling I sent her to someone else for lessons. Bowling is a handicapped game. We competed as a team. Won the city championship in 88 and 89.
Happy wife, happy life.

It sounds like she may just be immature.
I don't know her.
If that's the case.

Ebonicly speaking: You be phuked
