I just put together an idea for a cue, and am curious as to who you would recommend the builder be.

Also, please understand this drawing was done in Microsoft Powerpoint, and is not the best, so not critics please, you get the idea of what I am going for.
6 point cue, 3 high, 3 low
3 boxes in butt sleeve
darkest wood is Rosewood, points and handle are Bocote, all rings and veneers are maple, and celtic cross inlay, buttcap and joint are white (non-ivory... preferably white phenolic, elphoryn, Juma, etc)

Bob is local (within an hour), but I am not a huge fan of how his cues play (with the exception of his sneaky petes) he has a pretty thin taper on his butts, and the one that I played with (a buddy has one) wasn't my cup of tea. It was a softer hitting cue, and didn't have the "lively" and "crisp" feel that I like in a cue.

By the way, not sure if you got my text this morning... IDK where in the area you are, but was going to see if you wanted to get together for lunch if you were somewhat close?

Thanks Jesse, I am thinking about it being my present to myself for going back to school. I think it would be a very nice graduation present to myself LOL.

I am debating on Sly (lives in same town as me), Robert Harris, and Mike Stacey, but want to make sure I am not leaving anyone out of consideration.

I thought about Olney as a possibility too, but when I talked to him, he said his wait list is like 6 years...

I'd go with Leon. He makes a nice cue!

If you want it cheap, call up our buddies at Schmelke

All depends on what your budget is?

I would like to stay under $2K for sure...
I was honestly hoping that it could be done for $1500 or less, but that might be asking alot, not really sure.

I was contacted by one cuemaker via email who quoted $1400, which is awesome!!! I don't want to share names as I feel that is bad taste.

I have met the above cuemaker, and he is an awesome guy, just never had the chance to play with one of his cues, so I will have to look into that further.

My first recommendation would always be Andy Gilbert. There could be hundreds, after that. :)

Looks like a Gilbert to me as well. Of course there are many that would do a wonderful job. But I have had Andy do a lot of work and it is always top notch and this is right up his alley.

First person I thought of when I saw it was Andy Gilbert, too. That is who I'd go with for that cue.

Not close to Maryland, but Ariel Carmelli out in CA would do a great job with that design. Some examples of his work can be seen on superiorcues.com website.

Never seen a Tony Guerra with an inlay on the butt like that, but I could see him making that into a gorgeous cue.
