Regardless of the actual pocket openings, could be 4" i don't care, 135 miter angles make the hallway so to speak behind the mouth opening huge. Balls bounce off the pocket facings all the way into the back of the pocket instead of rejecting badly hit balls. And forget playing one pocket with parallel pocket miter angles, I don’t care who's playing, you're NOT going to get any balls out of the pockets so you might as well just shoot them in and score the ball for your opponent.That's where the pocket facing angles come in... they're supposed to be 142°-143°, which reduces the opening by about 3/4" from mouth to throat, regardless of the mouth size (parallel facings would be 135° - and too easy).
