My restored late 50s Centennial with MG rails has shallower shelfs - slightly more than 1/2 a ball sticks out in that view.

My TDF is exactly 1.00. And TDF doesn’t consider side pockets, but mine are only 1/4” larger than the corners.

That explains why the ball in the corner sits further back in the pocket, because the playing surface is smaller than 50"×100" meaning the nose of the cushions stick out into the playing surface more as to help create a deeper pocket shelf.

How much of the ball would be sticking out if your table had 4" corner pockets, because the pocket I showed the ball sitting 50% in the pocket, was a 4" corner pocket with 140 miter angles. Throat measurement was 3 3/8" not that it really matters, because the balls can't touch the sides of the throat anyway, they drop first.

Put a ball in the corner pocket like this, then let's see how much ball is showing outside of the pocket. This indicates the pocket shelf depth.View attachment 739306

Againt the facing as far back as it will still sit.
