hi im a new member I hope to find well with you
i play pool for fun but i like to see pool matches on tv or youtube.
now i have a simple question, in us open 2007 i have noticed that the tables have big pockets, infact you can hit several inches before the pockets and the ball still go in.
But in the predator championship and us open 2008 i have noticed they are using tables with smaller pockets.
Are really smaller than the other or have I seen badly?Is still possible pot the ball touching the rail before the pocket? What are the size of the pockets?

i own one of the tables from the 2007 US Open and the pockets are not to big or small-they are regular size for Diamond tables, it is possible to hit the cushion 6" from the pocket and make the ball only if the speed is right,

They had 4 1/2" corner pockets, but as with all freshly recovered tables, the balls on new cloth have a tendency to slid in the pockets a little easier than when the table has been played on for a while.

so the pockets are the same of the old tables?
 
I think that it has something to do with the camera angle on the pocket that gives an illusion that the pocket is bigger than it really is.
 
i remember i have read some week ago that the pockets of the table which are using predator and us open are smaller than the others,maybe i remember badly. i think anyway the pockets are too generous.

I'd like to tighten my pockets in the next year because i just bought my table before Christmas , and i know for a fact that the Corner pockets and five inch's from the Jaws and six inch's on the side pockets , so is it normal for the side pockets to be six inch's or can they be tighten , are the rules for pocket size in the BCA 4 1/2 corner and 5 1/2 for the sides , I want to say that's right I just can't remember .
