For those of you that have a Taper Shaper from Unique Products, do you have any problems with the points not lining up perfectly? I have tried over and over to get them to line up on the machine, but when I put the final taper on the forearm, they are not true. Any help would be great....

are you tapring just the forearo or the entire cue?.if you have any runout on the a joint youre points will come out off. i taper my cue in 2 pieces. sometimes i have to hand sand to get them abso perfect with 220
see my video on cue tapering i finish size the fore arm then attach the handle then taper the whole cue never touching the tips of the points or the joint........lee

Sounds like your A joint is not true ... Before I glue I put whole cue between centers and check runout and reface if needed or tweak what I can ... any runout in the tenon screw will also cause a problem, so putting the handle in the lathe between centers to glue the screw also ... I usually put the cue in the lathe between centers and the screws cure dead nuts with virtually no runout. If you bore or tap your tenon screw hole that might help... Using a 3/8 bit for the 3/8 x 10 pins has a bit of slop so I use a 9.4mm bit which is tight and true ... Only have to bore slightly after using 9.4 mm bit for G10 or Radial pins ... I hope this might help some , I've used the Taper Shaper from Unique and it is a great machine ... I like it ... Good luck and I hope you solve this problem , I know it's tough sometimes , you'll put one together and it's true , take it apart to swap rings and then when back together you get runout ... If other people can do it so can you ...

yes the problem is in the a joint as i suspected. i had the same prob. make sure everything is faced.
i bet you are over tightening the a joint. snug it up dont torque it. glue will do its job. overtightening will throw your surfaces out of wack
i also put it between centers immediatly while the glue is still wet if i have rollout i mark the high side with a pencil against my toolpost then stop the lathe and put my tool on the pencil mark and nudge it over with the toolpost... repeat until perfect. works everytime but i rarely have to do this

Like they said here, IT'S ajoint runout. The taper shaper has nothing to do with the points not lining up.
Centering, facing off are the factors you have to consider when putting together the handle and the finished forearm.
