Poker at the Derby. . .

I'm going down for the 11 days of the derby. The poker room seems tiny, couple small tables of 1-2 nl and 3-6 lhe. Anyone know if the room picks up a bit during the tourney and they get more/bigger games?
 
I don't like playing limit HE...

When I'm playing limit, I prefer to play stud...

I hate playing limit HE....

But now it's so hard to find good stud games, cause everyone is wanting to play HE.... arggghhh.....

There's been some pretty good NL games in that room at past DCC's. Plus a nice tourney or two. If I wasn't so busy I might stop by. I played once the first year and won 600, paid for all my food plus! :wink:

I like holdem and stud. The problem with most stud games below 30-60 is the ante structure. 10-20 ante is $1, which is too small and encourages nittier play. Short-handed stud suffers more bc of this. (sh lhe plays way bigger than full ring, and sh stud plays smaller). Personally I think the ante should become proportionally bigger the shorter a game gets, but that'll probably never happen. You are right, though, stud is dying. It could become more popular as mixed games become more popular, but a lot of people don't want lhe and stud in the mix. they'd rather play split games and draw games (and split draw games).
 
Last year they had to open 2 5/10 and a 10/20 table. The players eel bring action. Just ask jimmy, the manager to open a bigger game.
