After washing, what is a good wax for polishing balls. I don't have one of those machines for doing it.
Thanks

I've used this stuff on my car/bike for over 30 years. Started using it on my Centennial's 10 years ago

I've never seen it at Pep Boy's or Advance Auto. I got mine at a local auto parts/paint supply quite a while ago, it lasts a long time.

There are pros and cons of applying wax to pool balls. Wax changes how the balls throw and bank. That will change as the wax wears off. If you keep them well waxed, they will probably not change.

If you do wax them, you will probably have difficulty with unwaxed balls on some shots.

I think the Aramith polish has no wax or silicone.

Most of the places that I go too the balls aren't waxed. So it sounds like just clean with the aramith ball cleaner and be done. That way everything will be playing about the same.
Thanks again

Hi Paul,

In another thread, you mentioned that the waxed balls at the room where you play throw a lot. I saw something similar when I tried to clean up an old set of balls first with car rubbing compound and then car polish. The balls came out nice and shiny but had about twice as much throw as before.

Do the balls have more or less throw with Carnauba?

I use Mcguire's Cleaner Wax, comes in a red bottle. You can buy it at any car parts store near the car waxes. Takes all the blue spots off the cue ball from chalk and does not leave residue.
This is not a wax, it is a cleaner, so once you buff it off there is not a waxy buildup. So balls don't throw any more......or less

Like bob said. I wouldnt wax em, just clean em. Wax will affect play and when u go play somewhere else itll take time to adjust. Just use aramith ball cleaner. my super aramith pros came with it and a microfiber cloth to use.

I haven't noticed any difference in throw using the "Yellow Wax". You are correct about them banking differently. Initially they skid/slide more coming off the rail and bank longer. This also makes the corner pockets play eaiser for the same reason. But this dosen't last too long, maybe a couple of racks and then they behave normally.

I am personally against waxing. I played some with a waxed set, and spin was odd. Side spin had a hard time catching off the rails, but follow and draw was above normal. Draw was a bit neat as I'd see it hit, then spin in place for a bit (due to the slipery stuff on the ball), then scoot back. It was too unpredictable, but fun as long as you don't expect to play a good game.

discoloration

I had mine is storage, why did they discolor? will the aramith polish remove the discoloration?

Bob -- If you were the boss of all of us --and we all had to obey, what would you command we including all room owners do to keep the balls in good shape and playing consistently?
