Most smokers believe that though smoking causes cancer, they can stop when the first signs appear. They don't realize that cigarettes are a major contributor to many kinds of cancer including mouth and throat, stomach, colon and bladder cancer. And yes, second hand smoke has the same effects. In Gainesville, Florida, where I live, smoking is not allowed in restaurants. But, interestingly, there is a pool hall here that serves food, and even advertises in the restaurant section of local publications, but gets away with allowing smoking. Some say that they simply don't ring up all their food sales, and get under the 10% limit (if prepared food sales are 10% or more of your business, you cannot allow smoking). But then of course in many communities, health code violations are not enforced anyway. Why is a good topic for debate.
