Poll for non-smokers: smoking in pool

I am a non-smoker and I will/will not play in a pool hall that allows smoking:

  • will - I love pool and have no other choice

    Votes: 15 34.9%
  • will not - I have access to a pool hall with clean indoor air

    Votes: 27 62.8%
  • will not - I don't play pool because of this but I do read AZB

    Votes: 2 4.7%
  • will not - I own a pool table; let the pool hall go out of business

    Votes: 3 7.0%

Most smokers believe that though smoking causes cancer, they can stop when the first signs appear. They don't realize that cigarettes are a major contributor to many kinds of cancer including mouth and throat, stomach, colon and bladder cancer. And yes, second hand smoke has the same effects. In Gainesville, Florida, where I live, smoking is not allowed in restaurants. But, interestingly, there is a pool hall here that serves food, and even advertises in the restaurant section of local publications, but gets away with allowing smoking. Some say that they simply don't ring up all their food sales, and get under the 10% limit (if prepared food sales are 10% or more of your business, you cannot allow smoking). But then of course in many communities, health code violations are not enforced anyway. Why is a good topic for debate.

There are people in this thread who deny that secondhand smoke is detrimental to the health of non-smokers and claim that non-smokers enjoy the smell of cigar smoke. They quite obviously belong in a psychiatric institution.

Smoke Pork or Smoke Ham...not cig....ah never mind.

no smokey PR's for me

Good for you. Your poll is rigged. 3 yes answers and one (I have no choice) answer. I don't care who smokes. Are you aware that to sit near a campfire and breathe wood smoke is 4,000 times more dangerous than 2nd hand cigarette smoke?

Well, that does it... I won't play in places where they allow camp fires

I won't play where smoking is allowed. Cigarettes is the thing I hate the most in this world.

But its smoke-free everywhere here.

And what's so bad for smokers to take their coats, walk 40feet to go out and come back. Its a good compromise, I keep my health and you get to walk only an extra 2 seconds to go have your smoke.

Smoking is bad for you. Second hand smoke is bad for you. I would pick a non smoking pool hall over a smoking one if I had a choice. People are smoking two cigarettes sometimes cause they "forgot" they already had one going on. I smoked, I have COPD, I have to take medicine to help me breath. Do I still go to the pool hall? Yes, I do. But I limit the time I spend to the less busy hours except for league night. I use an inhaler at times. I go outside and wait on my match sometimes. I don't go after 6 pm unless it is league night. The "smoke eaters" are a joke. Will probably get a home table for practice soon. I have seen plenty of smokers who are too late in quitting. None of them talk shit when the cancer is kicking ass. Don't quit quitting is the best advice I can give.
