There's always conversation about how the game of nine ball is broken, and it usually stems down to the break. You've got guys like Paul S. who have the no-conflict rules, but it always gets a mixed reaction. Then there was (for a short while) talks of having a mandatory push after the break. Accu-Stats did this under their arena rules, and I really wasn't the biggest fan.
Now you have the break from this year's Mosconi Cup. 9 on the spot, and players had to break from the box. There were 47 games on Day 1, and only one person (Shane) had a break and run. That's pretty incredible in my book.
I like it because it doesn't eliminate the break and run, like No-Conflict or the Arena Rules do. Instead, it just makes it that much tougher to do.
Would it eventually be figured out, and put us exactly where we are now? Possibly, but in the meantime, I think it would be a great and simple way to make this broken game not so broken.
This is just about if we should switch to the Mosconi Cup break.
- Not about going to No-Conflict or Arena Rules
- Not about changing to two foul rules.
