Well, today I tried out a OB-2 shaft and I like my OB-1 shaft way better.
I'm currently using a Morri Medium on my OB-1 and love that combo.
I'm not sure what tip was on the OB-2 I tried, but assume it was their standard tip.

The "European" size diameter of 11.75 just doesn't suit my game.
I'll be sticking with my OB-1 12.75mm. Wondered how other folks
felt about there shaft diameters who are using an aftermarket low
deflection shaft on their cues. I've tried the 314-2 as well as the
Z series but like the OB-1 softer feel off the maple. My wife has a
Mcdermott i2 & i3 shaft and she likes the i-2 shaft on her's the best
as well, but sometimes will use her i-3 on smaller tables under nine
feet.

I am looking to buy a Predator Z-2 shaft, but if there isn't a major difference from the 314-2 shaft then I would just get the 314-2 shaft. Are there major differences or are do they play almost the same?

IMO they play quite different. The z-2 is 11.75mm stock, and I can generate more action on the CB than the 314-2. I have to keep my stroke way more precise to pot balls with the z.

I didn't vote because you left it too open. I have a 314_2 turned down to 12.25mm I would go 12mm but that is beyond what they warranty.

I tried to list the most common but the poll only allows for 10 choices.
I guess you'd classfy yours in the 314-2 or custom 12.50.

They do play different the 314 is 12.75mm and the Z is 11.75.

I also find little room for error using the Z-2 shaft. And once you switch it could be hard going back to a standard shaft? Have not used the 314 to be fair. I decided to get a second shaft in case I needed to have a tip put on. Can't be without a shaft for 5 days. They do not play exactly the same. Using a micrometer I found one is .469 while the other is .459. Another factor would be what tip you choose? I playing with the Everest tips for now but used LePro's for many years.

12.75 - 13mm with a fairly long taper seems best for me.

I don't think people give enough time with a new shaft. It seems there are threads about playing with a shaft for an hour and saying it's not for them. I've been playing with the same shaft for 6 mos. now, and I know I'd be lost on some complicated shots with a much different diameter and taper.

Yep-After playing for a short period with a 11.75 it felt really weird when I went back to my 13mm-Seemed like the shaft was "HUGE" and hit real heavy & hard if that makes any sense. Finally settled in with the 12.75 as a good balance between the two.
