I was playing pool tonight and a friend came up to me and ask if I wanted to buy a couple off cue butts. One is a predator/samsara but limited edition(32 of 100)no shaft and the other was a pechauer butt,no shaft(both were broken). He said a freind wanted to sell them.He was asking $400 for both.I said I would give $225.He text his friend and got the o.k. and the deal was done.
I paid for the cues and after I had already paid for them I found out someone else had made an offer on them of $150.He said that he was told to get the most out of them he could by the owner.I later find out that the $150 offer was from a mutual friend of ours.I said to the guy I bought them from that I didn`t want any issues because of my friend bidding on them(the deal was already done when I found out about this)He said there was no deal made with the other bidder and he would call him and let him know someone made a better offer.
If I had known before the deal was done and money paid that my friend was making an offer on them I would have let my friend have them.
the seller left and few min later he called and said he told him.I said again I didn`t want any issues and he said again there was never a final deal made between him and my friend.
Later my friend( the other bidder) comes in and he is pissed at me saying what I did was wrong and I shouldn`t have done that and he expected more of me.Again I didn`t know anything about him and the offer he made until after the deal was completed and paid.He told me that once I found out he was the other bidder I should have got my money back and the deal went to him because they had made a deal aready and he left money at the bar for the cues and also the owner of the cues owed him money and he figured he could sell these and recoup some of his money.I was told there was never a deal made between him and the sellers(after the deal was already done and paid,Again I never knew about this until after everything was done and paid for)
I explained to him several times that I didn`t do anything underhanded toward him or out bid him to try and steal the deal from him.He now is pissed at me and the sellers of the cues.I have offered him the following options.
1 I would take my $225 back and he can have the cues.He said no he wanted them for $150
2 If he can get my $225 back I will let him have them for $150.he said that money is long gone and that wouldn`t happen.
3 I told him that since I didn`t want any hard feelings when I sold them I would split the profit 50/50 so he could recoup some of his money(even though I didn`t have to)He still is mad at me and is mad at the seller and owner
4 do nothing and just move on.
What do you guys think?
