You don't have to defend yourself. We all know that not everyone gets alon w/ everyone
And Crawfish is cranky coz he got a spanking recently from Drater.

Thank you for your input. I have nothing against Brass Tap itself. Best tourney around. Just a small personal problem with an employee that has nothing to do with pool. It was the other person who mentioned the "element."

I broke even, by the way, thank you. I actually won $50 on the side for the last set. I just didn't like giving up the seven. ( I might actually like it, I just didn't on this occasion.)

WHAT? Where's my cut? I deserve $37.96 of that just to cover my gas expense!

Next time I see you I am buying. (Unless you beat me out of everything first.) In that case, you will be buying. I have a game for us. Bartable. There, I said it.

I have been in this pool thing for 19 years, my parents have owned a pool room (Brown's for 15 years) and I have worked in pool rooms for 19 years. I have traveled all over the country and seen all types of rooms and players. Dropped out of college to follow around pool players just to watch tournaments and action so I feel comfortable in saying what I have to say.

I set up this AZ Billiards Forum Account so I could post upcoming tournament information about the Brass Tap but I see now, after reading some posts today, I may have to defend the place that has been my second home for many years. To the outside looking in, the Brass Tap is quite intimidating, especially to those who have a B or C game but still it is a great place to see whether or not you have the heart or the balls, for that matter, to gamble!

We have 18 Gold Crown tables, 4 of which have the tightest pockets in Raleigh. There is always some kind of action and we have the largest group of One Pocket Players in the triangle. Our tournaments cater to the players, we raise money for charities and have benefits that raise money for our FRIENDS in times of need. The Brass Tap is a staple in Raleigh and will always be that way. We change to meet the times and want to make EVERYONE feel welcome and want everyone to come back!

Yeah, you can get on this forum and say you don't like the place and that you don't like some of the people that work there, but how well do you really know them. Oh, you got matched up bad in a tournament, you were told you play too slow, you heard another room owner bad mouth the place so you are jumping on the band wagon... I challenge anyone to go toe to toe to Tony's contribution to pool and generosity to the community.

Better than that, I challenge you to come back to the Brass Tap and give it another try. Tell me what made you so unhappy and I will try to make it right. I work a full time job that pays REALLY WELL and I work at the Brass Tap part time for fun so I am not just a bartender trying to drum up business!

So to keep this posting in line with the original, there is ALWAYS action at the Brass Tap, we actually have some kids from West Virginia and Ohio VISITING now AND most importantly you are always welcome to visit!

If you are coming to Raleigh send me a message!! :D
There's no need to defend Brass Tap - it's a great room with great tables. Unlike Keith, I've never had a problem with either Peewee or TC - in fact, I love both of them to death. There's a reason a lot of pros seek out Tony whenever they're in town (and I'm not talking about Johnny - he has a pretty good reason to see Tony whenever he's in town since technically he's family now) - Tony does a LOT for the pool community and the community-at-large. Some of the other people that go there, though, I could do without and I choose not to be around them. That's not a knock on the Tap or TC or Peewee, so please don't feel you need to defend them to me. It's the same reason I don't go to certain movie theaters, or malls, or any number of things I didn't mind so much when I was younger. As I get older, I find that I have a lower tolerance for certain crowds, even though when I was younger, I used to be in Brass Tap every night until 3 or 4 in the morning.

As I stated previously, it is a good POOLROOM. There are players there and for the most part it probably is the best place for action around here. Good tourneys, etc. I just had something personal. No biggie. It definitely has a changed environment since I spent every waking moment there in the early nineties. But, hasn't everything?

Brass Tap is an icon for pool in the southeast and will probably always be known for that. But, times for pool have change in general.
