Pool and drink

I cannot drink and play well. About halfway through a pint my game starts to take a dip. Now this is a 7.2% ABV IPA so not a bud light, but still, just a half pint and I notice a difference.

For league I either don’t drink or don’t drink until we’ve either won or lost for the night. At tournaments I rarely drink, occasionally one beer during a longer break.

I have been playing around a little with micro dose THC gummies. Taking a small 10mg gummy and quartering it to 2.5mg doses. I’ve had some good luck with 1 or 2 of those and finding a real calm, relaxed but intensely focused state where I’ve played some good pool.

I don’t play well even on one beer. I suspect most others don’t either. Most folks I play that are drinking I beat pretty easily. Only one player in history had to have the drink to counteract a neurological disorder he had and that was big bill from Canada who was a snooker player. People who say they play good while drinking are delusional. Good compared to what I always ask them.
I doubt anybody plays good while drunk, but everyone that's drinking isn't drunk. It's a bit naive to think that alcohol can't be used as a performance enhancer for many. I think the biggest problem with alcohol is it can be used as an enhancer in the short-term but using it for a long tournament or over the course of a weekend is a tough juggling act.

IMHO there is scientific facts that Alcohol in excess effect people ability to do thing as well as stone cold sober. Does one beer, glass of wine, or shot of hard liquor affects everyone the same He**, NO.

Must factor in person weight, age, body weight, medications they are one or not? Plus other factors.

So you the person who boast you can play Pool as good drunk, or stone cold sobers. That is great for you. One question when you are done playing Pool who is driving you home DRUNK, or are you good if caught driving drink, are you good dealing with the penalties from being caught driving drunk?
One study showed that folks who learn a task while drinking, play better while drinking, up to a point. And the folks who learn a task while sober have difficulty doing it when drinking.
