Pool and Race

I don't understand a damn thing they say but with a table and cues and balls we get along just fine.

That's what the world needs, 25hrs of mandatory cuesports each week.

Ought t-be a Law!!
Put South Americans on that list. Happiest pool I ever "played" -- no pockets=can't miss.

What?
That's like telling a guy in a wheelchair he's lucky to not walk coz now he can't get tired.

The poolroom just might be the most diverse community on earth.
That's my experience anyhow.
All in an enclosed space.
Everyone gets along despite different personalities.

I rarely see black folks in the pool halls and tournaments. I know in the past we had "black" pool halls and "white" pool halls. When I think about DCC, it is pretty "white". Anyone have any insight?

I'm white. Played at the Triangle pool hall before you worked there in Biloxi.

My pool buddy from the Triangle plays in the DCC, knows Josh Roberts and introduced me to him years ago.

Sez AI: Josh Roberts has made a strong name for himself at the Derby City Classic (DCC), especially in One Pocket. While he hasn’t won the overall Master of the Table title, he’s had standout performances:

🎱 Notable DCC Highlights for Josh Roberts

  • 2025: Reached the finals of the One Pocket division, where he faced Fedor Gorst. Roberts played well but ultimately finished runner-up.
  • 2022: Made a deep run in One Pocket again, including a key win over Darren Appleton in the late rounds.
  • 2017: Featured in the Accu-Stats “Make It Happen” One Pocket Invitational, where he beat legends like Efren Reyes (4–1) and Shane Van Boening (4–0)—a performance that helped cement his reputation as a top-tier One Pocket tactician.
While he hasn’t clinched a DCC title in Banks or 9-Ball, his One Pocket prowess consistently puts him in the conversation among elite players.

Maybe.
Don't spend much time in bus stations.
Are you talking Greyhound bus stations? Are there bus stations anymore?
Took Trailways and Greyhound round trip from central Illinois to Alabama 6 or 7 years ago just for a change of scenery. I think they’re out of business now .. won’t do that again! 😀

Took Greyhounds buses more years ago than I want to say.

Was in Mexico years ago. I'm playing on table with the bus driver. We could not understand each other. The table was on tilt. We had blast..laughed our asses off.

Grayhound Bus...was inspired by the Brunswick Centennial.

Sort of understand what you're saying.
Greyhound busses and Centennials are both classics?

York pa.. very few black players in leagues or tournaments. Maybe only 1 or 2 on the entire league and I can’t remember the last time I played in a tournament and a black player was there and york is a great mix of people. Back in the day 25 or 30 years a go when there were more bars in york (there are few anymore since brew pubs took over) you had some predominantly black bars so you saw more players but in the last years I really see few. More Hispanic players for sure. I have no idea why this is as when I am in bars I do see plenty of black folks playing and enjoying it…they just don’t get in leagues and tournaments to compete 🤷‍♂️

In my early days I used to travel a lot for business. When in Orlando I knew of a pool hall where everyone was black. I went there and played for just a dollar or two a game. Just for fun. The best part was everybody there wanted to play with me. They all wanted to beat the white guy. Don't take that the wrong way. It was all fun. That was 35 years ago, so not really relevant to today.
