I love my set and especially like the box.

The lone 8B pic above seems to be slightly different from the Vigma set.

Thank you! What a fantastic picture!

The 8-ball shown above is a phenolic resin ball. Two things point to Les Usines (SALUC), the lack of "bleed" between the black and white, and the wide variation in the size of the two circles which were cut to make the "8". If we were looking straight in to the "8", I believe both circles would be round, whereas with the given camera angle, the bottom circle appears oval.

Hey fella's

I have an opportunity to get a vitalite set of snooker balls for under 100. They appear to be in good shape, with the box. I know nothing about ball collecting, is this set worth picking up ?

I sure can

That Royal line-up is for the guest players.

And it all starts with this game title in a 96 point font, so they don’t ever know how bad they really get....they’re rubbing their eyes from the get-go trying to figure what is going on. All part of the strategy

While not particularly "Collectable", these are new to my collection. They truly play beautifully, and if you have never played with them, their most unique feature, in my opinion, is their SOUND! These have a rich, deep sound that is different from any other set I have played. I couldn't be more pleased with this set as part of my rotation.

As for the sound, I don't know if I could demonstrate the difference in a discernible way in a video here, but it is a somewhat "dull" thud sound that just seems very uniquely solid. I have heard some say they sound "biologic" like natural ivory. I have no idea. I have never heard two ivory balls collide, but perhaps someone here with experience with both may offer some thoughts.

Hello, ladies and gentlemen.

So many truly beautiful sets shared since my last visit to our wonderful pool ball collecting thread. Thank you so much, everyone.

Alas, it’s been a real struggle to access AZB for me these past few months and I’ve missed being part of the discussions terribly.

Very best wishes.

Many thanks, Mr P. :)

I’ve been trying to contact Jeffrey P, the gentleman who shared pictures of his beautiful Zigzag set on the previous page, but don’t think he has been logged in for a while. Can anyone help me to reach out to him, please?

Best wishes. :)

Hello, ladies and gentlemen.

It’s always gratifying to share something that hasn’t been previously featured on the thread.

The first two sets might be familiar as single balls of Aramith’s beautiful Prestige Caroms. What is rather special about my full-box collections, however, is that they are sample balls in the 57 mm size instead of 61.5 mm. The third box must surely be exceptionally rare… a set of four colour measles, also in the 57mm size. I certainly hadn’t seen their like before.

These pieces cost me rather a lot of money, gentlemen, but I just couldn’t resist.

Best wishes.

Alas, I still haven’t been able to contact Jeffrey P, the fellow who shared images of his phenolic resin zigzag balls.

I’ve sent him a private message, but guess he either hasn’t logged on to AZB for a while, or perhaps isn’t eligible to receive PMs yet?

Any help or assistance very gratefully accepted, gentlemen.

Hello, gentlemen.

This is a rather impressive quintet… all exceedingly rare and desirable.

Hi, Dan.

I was blessed to buy those no- numbered balls as a job lot from Germany a few years ago. They were made by Raschig.

As you can see in the images below, sir, they did come with two booklet covers which revealed the sets to called Four Player and One Pocket, and also suggested that the balls were cast in 1983.

Alas, the internal pages of the leaflet were missing, torn out at some earlier date. I know for sure they once existed as the rusty staple holes are still visible.

Best wishes.

The coloured balls pictured on the booklets are raised decals for some reason. Perhaps these sets were prototypes and this was a cost effective measure to save on printing set up expenses?
