Pool Ball Collecting.

Which snooker sets are you looking at, gentlemen? Are they unusual in any way?

Speaking of Etsy: Someone is offering Romanique I balls… that have been cut up to make jewellery. 😮
Not really special, just wanted a set of 52,5mm Crystalate (or similar quality), as my set has only 10 reds and I want to play a full 15 reds rack. But not as important actually, would just be nice to have. I bought 2 Crystalate sets from France, where they only cost about 20,- as well and shipping was another 5,-. They are just not very common outside of the UK and hard to find, not even expensive then. But from the UK they are about 20-30,- and then another 15-20,- shipping, and import taxes as well ontop, as Uk left the EU 😐

There is a lady in France who cuts old balls up and makes jewelry as well, like rings and stuff. Some nice Aramith in there too sometimes, I even saw some 70s Poker Balls once and my heart nearly stopped 😂

That is a shame!

Got something special today from Japan! Shipping was truly expensive as hell 😆

I don’t know if this is of importance, but they are always called Criss Cross and my box has a label which names them Pizzazz Pool Ball Set.

That sticker indicates that came from Mueller Recreational Product……I was importing those sets 25 years ago….300 sets at a time. Made in China.

So I have been unable to find much information regarding the "Red Dot Ball" except for some bits on Brunswick's pastperfectonline. The earliest mention is the '37-'38 catalog on page 10, and then the re-introduction in 1948, with nothing after 1957, and I have found nothing about phenolic pool balls from Austria. I included the photo because at first I thought the box textures were similar, and they are, somewhat, but not the same. The ball I have - with a black colored dot - weighs 173.5 grams and is just a smidge over 2.25 inches. If anyone could enlighten us, please, please, chime in! Thank you

I was suprised to win a Cardball v2 set last Saturday for $699. Because of the history, I brought up the auction near the end just to see how high it would go. With a minute left there were no bids so I placed a modest bid and quietly watched the auction close. I was the only bidder.

To say I'm thrilled is a bit of an understatement. The balls are in perfect condition but not the box - I don't think it's original. This set will stay on the table for a while. Racked and ready.

My wife was happy to suggest that I bought something nobody wants. As the only bidder, she had me cornered. This hobby is fun on many levels.
