I purchased this cue from a Chicago Estate sale and I think it is one of the most beautiful things I now own and has definitely become my new favorite cue!
It has what appears to be purple heart veneers in a Titleist pattern with additional embellishments on the points. A black leather wrap like what you would find on a period Brunswick Willie Hoppe. The white dots are ivory and so is the butt cap, the cap has been hot needle tested. On the lower butt cap is an inscribed mother-of-pearl plate with what I assume is the original owner's name since I can't find any record of a Cue maker with that name. It does not have a brass joint so I don't think it could be a Rambow and someone on another forum suggested it could be a custom build out of the Brunswick shop in Chicago but I don't know how you would validate that. Another collector friend said he had seen similar Mother of Perl nameplates on cues that were stored or left at pool halls in the 20's and 30's so that might help in providing a date.
Please take a look gentlemen and see if this matches up to anything or anyone you have seen in the past. All help or clues is greatly appreciated!
