Pool Hall coming soon to Lena Illinois

Good luck with your Billiard Room...

Great building and built to last! Your location has great potential, right off US 20 on the way to Galena IL, can't help thinking people stopping by to check it out.

Lots of people with $$$ trek to Galena all the time, Golfers, etc... I could see a Fall classic, fitting with the leavers cursing on US 20.

The high ceiling is a positive, to cut down the noise I would hang panels covered with a sound reducing material then covered with Classic Billiard Posters, better yet advertising banners from your vendors, when you walking into the room, wow!

Will definitely check it out.

Joe

Wow that really came out nice, good luck in your new endeavor.

Why am I the Colonel? Because I always get the chicken

I'm from Rockford. My whole family still lives there. Have relatives in Galena, Savannah, and Hanover. Next time in town I'll definitely swing by. Good luck with your room! It looks Great!

I used to work at State & Madison billiards in Rockford about 20 years ago, have been playing pool ever since!

Hey Matt..The place looks great..As a firefighter & Pool Room Owner/Mechanic it does my heart good to see a pool room in a firehouse. Best of luck to you and if I can help in anyway please feel free to call.

Pool room looks great! Its time to think about a Saturday to invite all of the nearby AZB members over. Its a 2 1/2 hour drive south for me but I will gladly make the trip to meet some of the great people on the forums and to help support a new pool room.

Looks nice Matt. I like your choice of table lights. I might just have to make a detour sometime on my way to Peoria. Good luck with your business.

Great looking sign, can't wait to see it in person, all that white stuff doesn't
need to be there though. Be back in April.

Great job on your pool hall. Congrats and best wishes.

A friend put a second story above a building she bought - remodeled it into a combo flower/gift shop and then got a lucrative contract as a US Post Office Substation, dedicating one section downstairs, and making enough income off that part to pay for the building itself. She ended up with a steady income from her business and postal substation, with a very nice large apartment above. Except for the stairs she has always been pleased with the arrangement.

I looked at your area from overhead and google street view. It looks like there will not be much parking available right now. If you own the area behind the fire station that could be paved, or you could use some of that railroad right of way like the Meat Store uses.

Best of luck, hope your community supports you well.

I would think about forming leagues independent of BCA - APA etc. I would prefer to keep every bit of money spent on league play in house if at all possible. Many people would prefer lower weekly league fees, or the same fees with a league-funded party and drawings for some nice free bling at season end.

Don't forget to sell shirts and jackets and stuff with your logo on them... at cost! Free advertising and all that.

After doing this quite a few times, I found the real work to be once your open. ''Make sure you have a professional bartender'' with personality, not one who can flip bottles and knows every drink, those guyz/gals are a dime a dozen. This person can make or break ya. Having spent thirty five years In customer service, this is an area of utmost concern. Not a tongue and cheeky person with a huge smile, but someone with ethics, hard worker and concern for all. They are hard to find, but if you look when you go out to dinner or ????? watch em and then put a bug in their ear about what ya got going on.

Oh yeah, and Good Luck, and don't forget to look BACK at your original business plan from time to time. Also, make sure you've got a way out when your going in.

MoonshineMattK,

Looks like an all-in project to me, congrats, you're in, especially since the plan is to live there too.
From the sign, looks like your place is called "101 Billiards"?
Hope you're having real fun now, congratulations again.
