Pool halls around the US that offer monthly rates on table time?

I remember a pool hall that was (is) located down in Palm Harbor FL back in around 1999, and I think that it was (is) called Sticks Billiards, and at that time, they had a monthly table rate deal where you could play unlimited pool in the day time (before like 6 pm I think), and the cost was like $50 (but may have been like $30).

Anyways, it was an amazing deal for unlimited table time for an entire month before 6 pm every day.

I am curious if very many pool halls do that type of thing these days?

I am in Louisville now, and wish that one of the local pool rooms offered a deal like that.

I figure that they may as well, since they are usually pretty dead in the day time anyways, and it would also get them more business (on customers buying food and drinks).

I lived in Evansville IN for awhile, and there was a place there that offered free pool for like a 4 or 5 hour time frame in the day time (if you purchase a meal that cost around $10 on average).

But a monthly pass, for a certain amount of money, like maybe even a $100 per month would be worth it for the serious player that wants to work on their game and put in many hours practicing.

I understand that most people work in the day time, but there are many pool players that work nights I imagine, and would be very interested in a monthly day time pass like this, and this would give pool rooms a lot of extra income I think.

I do not know, what do you guys think?

And do you know of pool rooms that offer monthly passes like the one that Sticks Billiards down in Palm Harbor offered (and may even still be offering today)?

I am just curious.

I so wish that pool was a much more popular game, but sadly it is not.

I think that a nice monthly pass would give people a little more incentive to go out and play (and as long as they want to, without worrying about the very expensive table time rates that most places charge these days).

The places are mostly dead all day long in the day time, so why not offer a nice monthly pass for day time playing?

If I were to just play 1 hour a day (at $6 per hour), then that would be around $180 per month in table time (just for 1 hour of playing time per day), so a $100 unlimited day time pass would actually be a really good deal (even if you just wanted to play 1 hour each day).

Thanks for reading, and for any thoughts about this.

Both KK Billiards in Appleton and Green Bay offer monthly deals. 75 to play at either one unlimited for a month, or $100 a month to play unlimited at both places.

I wish the poolhall back home in Chicago (Sapphire) would do this as well. Is there any business benefit to doing this though? I'd love to convince the owner to partake in this!

That is really cool. Yeah, I think that the pool room owner would benefit greatly, because the players would be spending money on at least drinks, and maybe food too. So it would bring in money in 2 ways I think, and it would get the word around about that pool room, and bring in even more business I think. Sadly, I do not think the most pool room owners think like I am thinking. They would rather just let their tables remain mostly un played in the day time.

So is that unlimited deal just for day time playing (before a certain time), or any time during their regular business hours? Happy to hear that pool rooms are still offering that type of deal. It is a huge money saver for any player that loves to play a lot of pool.

Hard Times Sacramento used to have one when I was up there and On Cue in San Diegp has one now. $100 per month till 6pm. College in San Diego years ago with a 'no action' provision. Every room in Vegas has a daily rate around $8 till 7pm or so. Unless there are big tournaments in town.

Also in San Diego is Ozone billiards, which I find to be the cleanest of the pool halls in the area. They have a ~$100 monthly rate for unlimited table time until 6pm.

All three Real Pool Halls in the greater Sacramento area offer monthly
memberships. Hard Times, The Jointed Cue, Diamond Billiards.

DannyK's in Orange has a VIP card for $70/mo. Play all day/all night most days, up to six PM Friday and Saturday.

If it gets real busy they may ask you to give up your table.

Been several months since I've had the time to do it, so it may have changed since last October.

there is a pool hall just a couple of miles from the house open 24/7 and several 9 footers and a few 8 ft, and only $50.year!

Is that a membership fee of $50 a year or for tabletime for $50 and no other costs? Amazin Billiards here in MA has a monthly fee but I think they also charge for table time on top of that, although at a cheaper rate.

A place that I played in had all day special for $6 or 8 from opening till 7 and then 7 till close for $10 and 12 on weekends which was a pretty good deal I thought.

For $100 or so a month you'd have to play more than a few times a week to make it worthwile.

I usually plan my play time during tournaments, which for where I play gives you free play time even when you are knocked out till close if you like ($7 entry fee and it goes from 7 till about 11), or there is free league practice in a few places and I know the league players so hop in with them. At Snookers during their Wed $20 tournament we often play afterwards also and they try not to kick us off the tables unless there are other customers waiting for a table.

Have not really had to pay for table time much in a while, but of course I try to be a good doobie and buy drinks and tip well which is only proper if you are getting away with no or very cheap table time. Even if I come out ahead in a tournament, I usually break even after covering all my double costs LOL.

And for those that know me, I am almost always with my son at a pool room, so anything I buy is doubled for me LOL, two tournament entry fees, double the drinks and food.

Jimmy's in mn has $10 all day with 9 footers, diamond barboxes, and 12 ft snooker table. Biffs also only charges $5 per person all day rate on like 16 diamond barboxes. That's the cheapest in twin cities. Other places have specials like shooters but that's like $16 for half day.

Have you considered posting this in the Room Owner Discussion forum, instead of the main forum? You may get more insightful responses there than from here. People who own and run poolhalls, rather than people who frequent them.

Put yourself in the role of a manager. What is the financial incentive in offering a deal where the room loses $80 per month? On the other hand, I would consider cutting you a deal if it increases your monthly spending significantly from $180; at 50% ($270), 100% ($360).
