Pool Halls in Reno?

I have done a little checking and I came up with this list;

Q's Billiards Club
Diamond Billiards
Keystone Que and Cushion

I'm sure there is more. I will be staying at the Grand Sierra Resort and Spa and it looks like Daimond Billiards is the closest one but which is the must go to pool hall? I'm not looking for any heavy action, although a little light gambling is fine. ($20.00 sets) Mainly I'm just looking for some fun, playing against better players than what there are in my area.

I would really like the chance to get to play some snooker, 3 cushion or one pocket against some experienced players.

Are there any regular weekly tournaments going on in reno?

I dont care if it's high class or a dive as long as the pools good. I'm NOT looking for some teenage hang out with a dance floor, just good a old school pool hall.

So what do you all recommend?

Anyone want to play some while I'm there?

Reno

I heard Q's and Keystone are gone, but not sure. Diamond is probably your best bet. Monk is usually there playing cheap 1pkt each day if you're looking for a game with a good player. Don't expect to win unless you're a top player:smile:

Closed? That sucks.

I am definitely not a top notch one pocket player. I'm pretty decent at 8 & 9-ball but I would like a chance to play/learn some of the other games from top notch players. I would love the chance to watch some high talent money games while I'm there too.

Mainly I just want to be around different people with the same passion for pool as i have. Gamble or no gamble, doesn't really matter to me.

I just drove by Keystone yesterday (haven't been inside in years) and the signs were all still there. It didn't look closed to me, but it certainly could be. Nothing in Reno is too far away from the GSR,

Thanks for the reply's, I'm sure someone here will know for sure one way or the other.
BTW, how would you rate the resort? ? Anyone here ever stay at the GSR?

It doesn't matter if Keystone is still open, you'll want to go to Diamonds. It's a true old-school pool room. Good equiment, good players and friendly staff.

If you can corner Warren "the Monk" into giving a lesson, you'll learn a hellava lot. He and Jeff Heath like to play One-Pocket on the front table and watching them play can be real interesting.

GSR is nice, I have stayed there many times. It's only an hour from home, but sometimes if I just feel like staying in Reno I get a room there. Did you know they are having the bar table championships at GSR this year? If you are looking for a better poker room, go to the Atlantis or the Peppermill.

pool room status

All three are still open, but Diamond is definitely your best bet.
for all the reasons mentioned previously. I have not played much in the last
6 months,(divorce) but drop me a PM an perhaps we can hit some. :)
