i'm looking for a room that was around when i was there. around 2005 ish. i think the name has changed but the layout went 9 footers on the left and barboxes on the right with booth seating around the 9 footers and a bar separating the two sides.

Society Billiards or Hungry Stick may be the one you're thinking about. There are some SD people on here that may know better than me.

Jay is right.

Hungry Stick is up in the Clairemont area of SD, while Society Billiards is on Garnet in Pacific Beach.

Neither one is considered a players hall. Society has a better location since its on the main bar avenue near the beach. The owner usually hires pretty girls and makes most of the money at night on drinks. Good food, mediocre tables for the most part. 8balleinstein on here used to play there sometimes, he could probably tell you more. Some of the best people I met in SD played here regularly.

Hungry Stick has a little better pool atmosphere since its more old school and has booths. Food is decent, not exciting, but its a cool little place. Friends used to tell me about its earlier days with biker fights,etc...but it seemed pretty chill most of the time I was there. Some quality players like Mike Defino used to play there.

Anyone been to Jolt'n Joes in the Gas Lamp dist? I've only been there once but remember it to be a pretty classy place.

Hungry Stick is on Claremont Mesa Blvd a few blocks west of the 805/
12 barboxes. 9 nine footers.
They have the APA regional playoffs and city tournaments there.
They did put together the winning 3 man team that played Dbarber and his guys for the 3 man APA national championship 6 or 7 years ago in Vegas.:D

I was there in August, I played for a few hours down stairs. I really wanted to check out the upstairs but it was closed. We were there around noon and we were the only ones playing pool. The food was good and so was the service. And yeah it was more up scale. I was not packing my own cues so I had to use house cues and there selection was weak.
