Pool Halls in the Chicago area I visited.

Very interesting thread! :)

Here is a GREAT link written by Michael Pollak about "The Hustler" and Ames Billiard Academy, which shut its doors in 1966 for good: http://www.thebilliardstour.com/movie-hustler-info.html

BTW, there is a DVD version of "The Hustler" which is GREAT, and provides quite a bit of info about the movie, with audio commentary by: Paul Newman; Robert Rossen’s daughter, Carol Rossen; film editor, Dede Allen; assistant director, Ulu Grosbard; actor, Stefan Gierasch; film historian, Jeff Young; and film critic for “Time” magazine, Richard Schickel.

Mike Massey breaks down five shots shown in the movie with a "Trick Shot Analysis.

I really enjoyed the DVD of "The Hustler," even though I have seen the movie many, many times. Currently, there is no DVD version of "The Color of Money" with this kind of detail.

Very nice site Jam thanks for providing it and Merry Christmas

Fascinating stuff. The more I read about the history of the game & the places its played the more I want to know.

Donovan, nice work. Hopefully our paths will cross one day, after all we're nearly neighbours!

I matched up with the Ghost about 3 weeks ago at Chris' and it was terrific.

George Fels was on a table in the back of the room, practicing a little 14-1 while I was up front on the action table with the sweaters. Just make it a point to get to Chris' and enjoy the visit - classic old time pool room with all the stuff you players need to see.

BTW, if anyone is coming through Denver, you will get played. We welcome anyone looking for action. See you at Paradise Billiards if you are interested.

Chris' is an awesome pool hall, love the atmosphere as soon as you walk up the steps, tough action though.

Who's looking for easy action when you can get the real stuff there?

On the other hand, if someone just wants to take OPM (Other People's Money), Chris's probably isn't the place for them...
