I was watching Ray Martin vs Mike Sigel straightpool match on youtube when I heard Max Eberle mention a dude invented straightpool. It got me curious, I thought billiard games sort of just took an organic type of evolution. I was surprised to hear Straight Pool was invented.

Anyways I googled it and came across this article:

Not sure if people posted this here before but either way, ENJOY! :)

some interesting things :

some interesting things :

-1869
Celluloid, the first industrial plastic, is discovered by New Yorker John Wesley Hyatt. Hyatt was attempting to come up with a substitute for ivory billiard balls, but his new substitutes sometimes exploded on impact.

-1907
Eight ball is invented. The first three-cushion championship is established.

-8 ball is older than straightpool (who invented it? since straightpool apparantly has an inventor)

-1910
The game of straight pool is invented by Jerome Keogh.
