"Pool I.Q." Kick Shot Video

I am pleased to give you all a quick review of an instructional video just realeased by the Behnke family of Iowa. I'm sure most (if not all) of you have heard of the Behnke brothers, Adam, Ryan, Chad and Levi.

These kids are amazing, and truely love the sport. All three of them recently competed in the US Open 9-Ball, and Chad was the youngest player ever to compete at 11 years old!

Legendary "Little" Joe Villalpando has over 50 years of pool playing experience and his knowledge of the game is overwhelming. He shows you how easy it is to learn where your cue ball is going on 1, 2, and 3 rail kick shots. He utilizes his clock system, along with images on screen which show the path of the cue ball. With his system you can hit (and usually pocket) a ball from anywhere on the table utilizing the kick shot methods he teaches.

The whole Behnke family (including the mom) perform the kick shots. I really like this because it shows that everyone of different levels can perfect kick shots.

I really enjoyed the video and I would reccommend it to all the members of this board! It's 41 minutes long and well worth the $39, less than $1 per minute.

I will do my best to upload a video clip via youtube soon. If anyone has any questions you can PM me or ask on here.

You can inquire directly to the Behnke family to purchase the video also by emailing: PoolIQ@yahoo.com, or calling (563)-676-2027

Thanks Everyone!

I think you forgot about Chad, the youngest. He was the 11 year old that competed in the US Open. I don't think Levi did this year.

"Little" Joe (AKA "Mexican" Joe per--> THIS THREAD) is certainly an accomplished "kicker"...I've borne the brunt of it first hand in many tournaments. He literally makes difficult kicks look easy and is a joy to play with...now that he is willing to share his secrets. It wasn't so fun when he was escaping from what I thought were strong safetys.

Joe's easy going style plays well on video and the supporting graphics are very nice. I bought a copy of the video and feel its an asset to my video collection.

I've played with Joe on many occasions and thought I had picked up on some of his secrets. I was wrong. Joe reveals simple (an important detail) one & two rail systems in this DVD that I did not know. That alone was worth the price of admission. I literally thought to my self "Why didn't I think of that!"

Those systems will help me win more than the $40 the DVD cost me, I'm sure of that! Where I once was forced to kick by "feel", I can now shoot with the confidence gained only from knowledge.

I can't wait for Joe to release the next installment in the "Pool IQ" collection.

" LIL Joe is letting the secrets out"....Pool IQ Is the the new wave of training dvd's..Joe's aproach has the most layman termonolgy Ive seen yet, with superb graphics.. useing the Benkhe family to show all skill level's of play(even Mom). If you cannot learn from this Dvd...take two weeks off than quit.... Or call "lil Joe" He can help you!!

Please don't say that "anyone" of any skill level can learn to kick with just a dollar a minute's worth of video instruction. Don't you know that kicking at balls requires years and years and years and years of experience and dialy training. You want us to believe that an average player can just learn a system and be making kick shots that the pros sold half their soul to learn?

Haven't we been subjected to this enough with the infernal jump cue and all the skill that is "bought" with those?

All tongue-in-cheek my friend, another good instructional is welcomed. It raises everyone's awareness. Now, if you can find a way to make it accessible on the web for a small price I'd be willing to pay it.

Yeah, now I remember....one of those little guys beat me in a tourny last year. :( I'd say that makes him the greatest pool player alive! :D

Thanks for the info, kzoo

Ill apoligize in advance for being the typical lazy lurker on these forums, i was motivated by this reading this thread to join in order to post my two cents. I have personally taken lessons from Little Joe, and I wanted to comment on the true greatness of his kicking systems. It was said in this thread, that it takes years of practice to learn how to play this game well, I agree that this is true, many aspects of the game of pool are such that no one can teach them to you, jacking up and spearing in balls, drawing the cue ball 4 rails, or slicing balls down the rail for instance take years of practice to learn, and are things that ill never been able to do that well, but i learned Joes kicking systems from him personally and can confidently tell you that they work. No matter how hidden the ball is i feel confident that im a favorite to get a hit, These systems are easy to learn and they really work. Anyone serious about pool can and should learn these systems, they are far superior to just eyeballing it! sure you could spend years and years and years practicing to where you get damned good at eyeballing 3 rail kicks, or you could learn these systems and become accurate very quickly. Trust me, your stealing learning this stuff for 40$.

Thanks for your $.02, and welcome aboard! Sounds like you'll have more to offer,

I too took lessons from Lil Joe back in the 70s but it wasn’t at a flat rate per hour. My lessons were at $20 per game 8 ball. It was one of the most pleasant losses and lessons I ever had. Because you see, Lil Joe is not only a champion pool player but a world class person as well.

When I heard Joe had a DVD on kicking out I had to call my old friend that I hadn’t seen in some 30 years and check in. It was a true pleasure talking to you again, Joe and rehashing all the old war stories. The tournament that was happening in my home town of Jackson, Mississippi had a top notch field and though Joe didn’t win it he finished second to some guy named Buddy Hall. Best of luck in the future my friend.

I know you said this in jest, but I just had to relay a conversation I had with Joe on this very subject just this last weekend. I'll paraphrase for you...

Joe responded that it DID take years of observation, experimentation, & refinement to develop the systems he employs and now offers in his kicking DVD. What used to take years to achieve can now be learned in an afternoon. Guys like Joe need to be appluaded for spilling those hard earned secrets in such an attractive & concise package.

I often think to myself, "If only I knew then, what I know today. I could have won this or that pivotal game that cost me that one tournament." That ignorance cost me $$$. There are kicking methods on this DVD that I may NEVER have learned on my own...no matter how many years I continue to play. I thank Joe for giving me some of the tools to take years off my learning curve.

BTW, I can give "fried rice" the orange crush. :p

Is this one of the best instructional dvd's on kicking or is there a better one? With all the good feedback i'll probably buy it anyways.

Pool I.Q. and Dr. Cue's banking/kicking foundations are great videos.

Joe's DVD is exceptional in the way it not only shows you how to make a three rail kick shot, but it also gives you the tools to adapt his system to any possible 3 rail shot, 2 rail, or 1 rail with much more certainty than other DVD's or "systems" I've worked with before. As others have said already, Joe is not only very knowledgeable, but he stands behind his training. I personnally have shot with him since buying the DVD, and have seen first-hand his knowledge at work. As well as a glimpse of the next installment.

Joe, I look forward to shooting with you more in the future and am especially looking forward to the next DVD. Thank you for your dedication to the game and passing on some of the tools you took the time and effort to develop.
