Pool in San Francisco

I will be in town the first week of October, and was just curious about the different pool rooms there. On past trips I have played at Family Billiards, and I have always enjoyed my time there. This year I am staying at the wharf, however, and I wanted to know if there is anything that would be closer for me. I think I may be out of luck, since I don't do bars or bar tables when I'm traveling, but I thought I would ask just in case.

Thanks!

But there was Jillians at 101 4th St. but don't know if they are still in business. It had just about 8 tables but mostly a sports bar, restuarant, music fare.
Not much for pool action I would imagine.

Yea sadly all that there really is in SF is Family Billiards. If you can make it to Mountain View there's California Billiards and that is an absolutely beautiful room.

Stay at the Royal Pacific Inn corner of Broadway and Columbus and get free parking. From there it will take you about ten to fifteen miniutes to drive to Van Ness and left over to Geary. Or take a walk on the wild side and go to Ca Billiards in Mt View, about a 45 to 60 minute drive using 101 or 280 depending on time of day and traffic. Theres also a place in San Rafeal, and a place bordering Berzerkly.

Yeah, I hit that Jillian's a couple of years ago. Nice place but the tables were so poorly maintained that it was impossible to play a serious game of pool on them. Thanks.

I keep hearing about that place. Maybe I can rent a car one day and check it out.

Thanks,

I'm already locked in at the Sheraton Fisherman's Wharf, and I probably won't have a car for most of the time. I'm just in town for the big Oracle shindig, and transportation is provided for that. Sounds like I will be heading over to Family Billiards a time or two.

Thanks all for the info.

San Fran billiards

If you are going to be over at Oracle a lot , there is a place in San Mateo called Great Entertainer on el camino , they have about 30 9 foot tables and a snooker table as well.

I will be at the Mosconi Center most of the time, but thanks for letting me know about another room in the area.

Speaking of Shindigs !

You might want 2 think about playing hooky 4 a day and travel to Sacramento.

Hardtimes Billiards will be doing One Pocket and Nine Ball with mini tournaments beginning on wednesday the 5th.
Big name players will B there!
Give them a call 4 details.

Hmmm, very interesting! Thanks!

Tony is now at the Two Cushion Club in Fairfield, CA - about 45 miles east of SF. Two Cushion Club may be one of the best pool places in Northern CA. Excellent people, tables, antique memorabilia, low rates, and jazz or blues playing softly in the background...

Ahh if you are interested in that...
Hardtimes will also be holding a first of the month One Pocket (Oct 1) and Open 10-ball (Oct 2).
Then on Wednesday (Oct 5) will be a bunch of mini tournaments.
Oct 6-7 is the bigger One Pocket event with $1,000 or $2,00 added depending on the number of players
Oct 8-10 is the Open 9-ball event with at least $4,000 added and all entry fees going to the pot.

The rumor is that Alex and Rodney are going. Anyhow give them a call!
