I will be at a conference in San Diego 4/13-17. I would like some suggestions of good places to play. Although my experience is limited, I am serious. Competition would be welcome. 14:1,8ball, 9ball...

Are you talking about in 09? (The 4/13-17)

Which part of San Diego are you going too? Downtown, north county?

I wish I could remember where I played for NYE 2000. I know it was downtown SD and that I really liked being there.

On Cue Billiards in La Mesa

College Billiards

Gaslamp Billiards DT

Society Billiards PB

The last i heard oncue has a good 9 ball tournament on mondays and college billiards (off the 8 east about 6 miles short of oncue) has a good 8 ball tournament on wednesdays

On Cue has a great Monday night tournament. It ususally gets a full field and has a lot of the top players in town.

I'm not sure about College Billiards. I know they had a weekly tournament a while back that expired and that they've been trying to get it restarted, but I don't now if they ever did. You could always call to check.

Hope this helps!

man i miss San Diego. there's a lot of talented players in so-cal. from what i remember the guys at oncue run the place like a pool room should be run. i miss s.d. so much, i had no idea how good i had it until i left.

I'll be in San Diego from 15th Dec to 7th Jan - with plenty of spare time for pool! I'll be checking some of these places out. Can anyone recommend a coach?

For lessons? I would suggest Louis Ulrich.

Stop by the Hungry Stick Clairmont Mesa blvd. west of the 805.
There is also The Monk school.
Pacific cue Encinittas in north county is a nice friendly little room. the owner posts here sometimes.

the last time i was in the hungry stick it was a wreck. the tables were all worn down.

and some big guy in there pulled his d1ck out and asked my friend (a female) to go to town on it. no joke! he slaped it on the table a couple of times

You should have whacked it with the butt of a Q-stick when it was on the rail. They can't even chase you after that. Johnnyt

....I'm sure my girlfriend will enjoy this place - sounds like a classy joint.

On a more serious note, thanks to you all for the feedback. I'm looking forward to checking it all out.

forget the weather. the women out there alone are worth the trip!
All this talk of SD is making me home sick. I seriously would just love to pick up sticks and move back. Do they still have the Miss Mission Beach contest? Good times.
