Pool in Thailand?

I have a question for you guys in Thailand... Should I bring one of my cues with me for the year or could I get a cue when I arrive from a local shop or good local cue maker?

Im a little worried about bringing one of my cues from home due to the extreme climate change.

American made cues are hard to find for sale in Bangkok. I bring my South West with me every time. No problems.

The fall league session will be starting soon. Its a great way to meet the local players & venues. The woman whe runs the league is named Long, and her number is: 087-136-6770. I play for Hillary 1 on Sukhumvit soi 4.

There are 2 AZ'ers who live in Bangkok full time: Monto P2 and thaitom. Both are good guys and everyone in the Bangkok pool scene knows them.

When will you get there?
 
I'll be arriving in Bangkok on Aug 28th.

I will definitely hit those guys up when I get into town and call that woman about joining up a league.

I'll probably see you in October. P.M. me if you have more questions. I've lived there part of the year for over 11 years. The best advice I can give you: Don't bring a wife or girlfriend!

thaitom is also an excellent resource for restaurants, activities, etc. But he's only posted a couple times.

its funny you mention that cause one of my co workers gave the same advice right before I told him that my girlfriend is coming with me.
haha. were gonna be living together and both teaching at an international school.
I know theres lots of hot chicks in thailand, thai women are very beautiful, but having to make sure they are actually a chick is too much effort. :eek:
Im just looking forward to traveling around the country, working, eating some good food and playing some pool.

The last couple I knew that came to visit got there in May. They were going to stay 3 months. She went home to Canada after a week. He is still there.
 
Don't be discouraged- some Western women have a tough time with the place, some don't- ya just gotta see how it works out.:thumbup:

I wasn't referring to what she will think about Thailand. I was referring to what he will think of Thai women, and what they will think of him.

American women often have a meltdown when faced with such formidable competition. I've seen it many times.

In about a month, he will understand. And so will she.

yes, good players and plenty of action is you are looking. check out Players, Ball in Hand, Hustlers, Pool 13, Sports Academy, Sportsman. These all have 9 foot pro tables, not to mention the hundreds of bars tables around town and loads of leagues and competitions to boot. It's heaven if you like to play.

Are you in Bangkok? I'll be back in October. Sugeknight should be there now.

All of the AZ'ers in town: myself, thaitom, gobrain77, and Monto P2 will probably meet up at one of the weekend tournaments in October/November.

Hopefully you and Sugeknight can make it as well.

If you are part of the Bangkok/Pattaya pool scene, we probably know each other.

I've never looked for pool rooms in Phuket, and I've never heard of any good ones. I'll be in Bangkok next month if you make it up there.

Check out Hustlers in the basement of Times Square at the Asok BTS Station. I think it is now the best pool room in town.
 
i will be there anyway, if u want to come...i like that place more then sports academy, even though i didn´t see it til there was that fire
