We have all this cool stuff. Magic racks, AI balls, Projector trainers, extensions, bridges, layered tips, LD shafts, laminated butts, Carbon, Uni-locs, tappers, scuffs, etc...

What's next? What cool new Pool invention would you like to see?

I was just thinking it might be cool to see a vibrating chalk holder. So basically, even if your chalking technique is shlt, you could just hold the chalk to the tip and it would vibrate the chalk all over the tip. Kind of like an electric toothbrush!

Believe it or not, the electric chalker has been done. I've got an old BCA rulebook somewhere and there's an ad for it in there.

We need nothing, we got what iss as necessary in equipment. Thirty perfect or more is pure junk.

Pool needs one group tuning, one strrof rules like real sport. Like NASCAR,MLB, PGA.

One person on top of group working for good of Pool, the Pros, and Amatures.

Get rid of of all the little pond with big fish getting fat like TAP, CSI, APA, etc.

Chalkless tips and carbon weave cloth.

The tips can be screw on for all I care. The cloth should be formed and frame mounted so you can remove it for spray washing.
I like this. Pretty sure somewhere in the world they are already working on Chalkless tips.

Carbon cloth sounds interesting. You would not need to remove it. Like a Beach mat, sand just falls through the holes. Simply wipe down the top. But what about the ball wear? Maybe it could be Teflon coated?

The cloth might even be virtually non porous but the stuff is impossible to stretch so it should be preformed and tensioned by the rails like a drumhead. I've often wondered why current cloth isn't tensioned with long clamps instead of staples.

NASCAR for example has only one rule set for each class but beyond that there are many, many different sanctioning bodies. DIRT, IMCA, USAC, WISSOTA, UMP, ARCA, ASCS, ALL STAR, the list goes on. They all have their own rules. Its no different than pool.

Like using nails instead of screws.

You know, carbon cloth might be a bit pricy. They keep trying to get cloth slicker and slicker... Why not just make cloth from recycled plastics? More consistency and less prone to humidity.

Automatic racking of the balls. Once upon a time, the pins had to be set manually on a bowling lane. They automated it, and the same should be done for the racking of balls at the pool table.
I was in a pool hall decades ago where they had a rack boy. When you needed the balls racked you tapped your cue, mostly house cues back then, on the floor and the rack boy ran over and racked them. I didn’t like it, had to wait sometimes but if you tried to rack your own they were offended

A device that shows both exact tip position on cue ball and exact ball fraction hit on object ball. I made the former already but the combo of both will really open amateurs’ eyes to the mistakes they are making and not realizing.

Also an AirTag for cues, goes inside butt of expensive cues. Investment protection.

Free high school education for all pool players, because most of them need to go again.

Oh! I can definitely see this in the future. Balls coming out of the ceiling lights. Awesome!

We have all this cool stuff. AI balls…
I don’t know anyone who has made a ball that uses AI. All I made is just a simple active sensor that measures spin and acceleration, not really fancy. It doesn’t have machine learning or artificial intelligence. It is similar to having a wireless thermometer inside a ball, nothing more. It doesn’t change how the ball behaves or anything.

I know you are being tounge and cheek about technology in pool and I appreciate the humor. But this is how misinformation starts. I can’t do anything to stop it obviously, and won’t because I also have a sense of humor… and it is interesting to see the beginning of what people will eventually think are cue balls that play the game for you.
I am curious to see how many times the term smart cue ball is used. The cue ball isn’t smart at all lol.

An automated shot clock system built into the lights. It knows which player is at the table, knows when all the balls stopped moving/spinning, counts down on its own, etc. It can project the time onto the table in a few spots.

True shot clocks on every table in a pool room or tournament venue.
