Pool jerseys are bad, but also not good

If any of my teams want me to wear a jersey, it's going to have to have a collar and at lease one pocket. To date, I've never worn a team jersey.

What do old school bowling shirts look like? Sorry, I've never followed that sport.
Wore this one to the BCA Vegas tournament I played in in 2012 if I recall. I didn't pick the team shirt, but it's cool. The team name was Just The Tip 🤣

Polo shirts or button up shirts look fine when they are a plain solid color. Or very fine patterns like in some button up dress shirts with collars.

But when you add loud patterns and colors to it like Charlie Harpers button up shirt, or bowling shirt, they look hideous.

In our sport cases, where you want sponsor logos, or your name on the back, an athletic jersey type shirt, or a fitted cotton t-shirt type uniform, is best, IMO.
Sponsorship is quite literally the only reason for the jerseys. Every other reason is trash just like all the jerseys. If you’re a sponsored player, by all means toe that line. But if you’re not? You’re an absolute clown wearing a jersey.

Bowling shirts likely started for team leagues back in the day. Loose fitting, short sleeved, untucked, but still looked tidy. All were positives for practicality and appearance. And they promoted team pride.

Pool jerseys for individual players should be left to the pros in pro tournaments. Sorry, if you’re wearing that to league and your teammates are wearing regular street clothes you don’t look professional, you stick out terribly.

Granted, the fabric on these pool jerseys no doubt look comfortable compared to the suits and tuxedos the pros wore back in the bowling shirt days, but come on, you’ve got to have something else in your wardrobe that doesn’t resemble a peacock.

Just a matter of time before you have to wear one to play in a tournament, lol.

I don't know, the DCC doesn't enforce rules on collars. I don't trust them to enforce rules requiring jerseys.

I don't love the jerseys, but I am for things that help players make a living. If sponsors view it as a valuable thing for a player to wear some crazy looking jersey such that they are contributing to that player's retirement fund--I am for ugly jerseys.

Retirement fund? For pool players? Good one 🤣

Actually, would that be a 14.1(k) account? 😂

NO way TC is ever gonna wear a tuck-in shirt. He's always worn the 'hip hop' style baggie jeans/big shirt. Its always clean and those jeans ain't cheap. Have zero issues with T-Rex's 'uniform'.
He had on a pair of khaki slacks in a recent tournament. They were about 12’ too long for him. Hung over his shoes. I don’t think he looks in the mirror before he leaves for a tournament. He needs to find a tailor.

Pros i can see them wearing them because of sponsorship. But when i see a local guy wearing one I just see a dork. I've seen guy wear them just to play pool on a regular day.

What say's i can't play pool a shiny pool shirt

I believe they look better than trying to put pros in a tie or bow tie. They do need a method of displaying their sponsors. All in all I like them.

Big fan of the vest
I am a big opponent of those as pool attire. And careful before the English people inserting horrible terms into the pool lexicon -“potting” “break off” etc… laugh at you for using the American word. 😉

so bad you had to start yet another thread about them
git off mah lawnnnnn you whiper snappers!

i dont like what the youngins are doin these days
must be the first time in history

I love jerseys and before anyone knocks it they should try it. It is great for the summer but if you don't want to wear one or the design is too out there. I suggest any golf shirt because similar material. It cools you down under the hot lights. My pool hall has arena lights so its hot.

A vest is for high class events not local Pubs

When an event is called high class it probably isn’t.
Gentlemen don’t take off their jacket to expose their waistcoat at a high class event.
The first pro event I went to was in the better have those guys rent a tux era. So you are wearing a dinner jacket before 5:00.(to clarify I was spectating not having to wear the stuff). You then take the dinner jacket off to play. you would never do that in public during a black tie affair. But you are somehow classier Than when you wear jeans and a t shirt in the pool hall. Minnesota Fats had it exactly right about pool players in dinner jackets.

nothing To me is worse than the waistcoat with no jacket dress code. i am glad they went away from it mostly in three cushion. If the players need to be in a tie make them wear a suit. Maybe they can look like a pit boss instead of a waiter.

I just got back into the game after a 15year hiatus, and was wondering what TF was with these jerseys? They really look bad. Hopefully, they don't start wearing matching shorts.
