Pool needs a King!!! How about Earl? Who do you nominate?

The label of King should be put on whoever comes along and pulls pool up to the national level, tv, and good livings for the pros. Johnnyt

I don't think living or dead should be a criteria. Most of the guys I play One Pocket with are damn near dead, and the one's that aren't, ought to be.
Elvis is dead, and he's a king.
Arnold Palmer is..., no, wait a second, I saw him on TV, yesterday.
Dale Earnhardt is no longer with us.
Edward VIII (he was a real king).
Burger King. I haven't a clue about him.

P.S. I think Allison Fisher is the bees knees. She could take Sally's place, any day of the week.

Sorry guys and gals, I can't resist this one. EARL STRICKLAND is the worst possible candidate, he represents all that is wrong in pool and since you nominate him you don't get it and never will so no use arguing this or trying to explain it. There are only 2 types in this arguement - those that get it and those that don't. Those that don't get it have been and are in the majority and thus the sad state of mens pool today.

Actually Earl is the best choice imo if you sit down and talk to him he has a lot of great ideas on how to make pool more viewer friendly and no one can accuse him of not having a passion for the game

I second what your saying but it really got me thinking. If Earl truly
represents the wrong doings in pool but yet still has a massive following,
maybe pool is really the way Earl acts and thinks and were the minority
who feels it should be different.

The way society in general acts today, Earl may be the norm. He shares a couple of traits with The Donald. Both are egotistical bloviators. Both are primadonnas. Both are self promoters. Both are extremely good at what they do. If Earl is really the best we have to offer, professional pool really is dead! Long live amatuer pool and amatuer pool leagues!!!! No Kings necessary . JMHO.

Johnny Archer would be my pick, he was player of the decade of the 90's , 9-Ball World Champion many times, still an active player , and he's a very likeable person.

i 2nd this was just waiting for someone to say it

Could Earl have made a difference?

I believe the US Mosconi team played their hearts out, and I also believe that with time on the team the newer additions will start winning like they are capable of, however I also believe that Earl would have made a difference in the outcome, he is fearless and seems to always seems to put a little fear in team Euro. jmho
