Pool on ESPN 2

yep, many thanks....bummer that Massey looks to be hurting (back). Probably won't see any of his POWER stroke shots due to it. :(

I'm sorry that I can't get any excitement going for trick shots, but I really wish they would show something else involving pool or billiards --some 8-ball would be nice. 3 C would be great.

I know those guys are very talented, but I can't remember the last time in actual play I needed to do something like having to make 17 balls at once or shoot through a rack to hit a ball on a coke bottle or something else like that. I would really really like see them set up shots that we might encounter in actual play and educate us on how to accomplish those feats.

IMO.
 
I'm convinced the trick shot airing is a very advanced subliminal torture. We don't want to watch it, we don't even like to watch it .but we can't help but watch it anyway. :shrug: :thud:
 
even if you don't like watching it, it's worth watching to see Rossman's reactions....he loves it, and it's fun to watch him IMO.

looks like Eric is having a good time too.
 
Eric Yow is putting on a masse clinic. Man he is putting some serious juice on the cue ball. On one of em I was waiting for smoke to come off the felt because the CB was doing a burn out

It's funny hearing his super pumped up reactions and then yelling out "hot dog!!!!"
 
I just can't take the Trick shot "magic"

It actually makes me angry. Yet I record it. I piss and moan as I delete them off my DVR.
 
The problem with the trick shot BS is that non players see that crap and they believe that is the way pool is played.

you believe that??? I think if it's pool related, and it's on TV, and someone who doesn't play pool finds it interesting and it makes them pick up a cue....good enough. Even if they pick up a cue to try that crap, eventually they'll try playing (real) games. Not everyone picks up pool for the same reasons as others....as long as they pick it up though; who cares!?

I agree completely. Being a purist is fine, but being a purist to people who don't play pool is just plain snobbery. If someone watches that and it makes them want to try some of those shots then that is great.

For those people who complain about the lack of billiards coverage on television and then complain about speed pool and trick shot magic keep this in mind: More people being exposed to billiards means more people picking up billiards.
 
I am glad to see any type of billiards on TV. I am just at a "higher" level than a novice viewer. Once you have seen anything done by Accu-Stats, everything else is null in comparison. I can only hope someone new is impressed by the trick shots and speed pool, and can someday get to the Accu-Stats level.
 
If you missed it and wanted to catch it, it's schedule to be shown again on Mon Dec 15 from 9pm-midnight Eastern, but check your local listings ;^)
 
Trick Shot Magic is something that even though it's pool related I can't bring myself to watch. Just because you like comedy and music doesn't mean Rosie O'Donnell's variety show wasn't awful.
