Recently a dear pool friend of mine said that he thought most pool players were like NASCAR people -- they voted for Bush. Since I'm this ignorant European (hardline commie with small penis, or whatever) I thought it would be interesting to see what the AzB crowd think of this issue. Hence the above poll. (hey Mr. Wilson, this is a pool related poll, so don't take if off the main forum, please ;^)

I dont vote. I like to stay completely out of politics. Giving up my right to vote also means giving up my right to complain about the president, which is fine by me because you will never hear that stuff from me.

Along the lines of Nascar fans, There are 4 people on my league team that like Nascar, but that is expected as they arnt really big pool players, they just go out to league for a good time.

I myself dont watch it, I dont dislike it or anything like that, it's just not me.

Not liking NASCAR is unAmerican. In fact it is even in the National Anthem, as everone knows that the last 4 words are: Drivers start your engines. :D

Last night as we were watching the closing ceremonies of the Olympics and the Canadian Anthem was sung because Canada will be hosting the next one. I made a comment to my wife that it seemed incomplete because it was not followed by a hockey game.

I would say that in most cases NASCAR people did NOT vote for Bush. To overgeneralize: NASCAR people tend to be blue collar and from the South... That mostly points towards Democratic Party voting.

Growing up in the west and northwest of the US, I hardly heard anything about car racing and didn't even care about it. It was right up there with soccer in my sports world.

But remember: Rich, white collar, conservative = Republican
NASCAR, pool playing blue collar, liberal = Democrat
One pocket player = Independant
Straight pool player = Libertarian

if you ask me Nascar sucks almost as much as our president.

For the last few year's i will agree with you. Back in the 70's & 80's i went
to allot of races at Daytona and watched the other's on TV. A few years back it started getting out of control. Track owners were buying up all the older racetracks like North Wilksboro just so they could use the date for there own tracks. Allot of the tracks now are cookie cutter tracks modeled
after Charlotte. I don't watch much anymore, just a few select races a year, Daytona, Martinsville & Watkins Glenn.I like to watch the open wheel Indy type racing. I did not vote for Bush. :)

you left out an "i love to watch jerry springer while spittin' out my chawin' tobaccy" option

We (my family) calls NASCAR roundy-round. If you watch the highlights of the race on ESPiN you've seen it all. Other than that if you watch the live broadcast your just watching cars go round and round.

Get me a pool stick so I can at least enjoy my time constructively.:D

Are you smoking crack? The south almost unanimously voted for Bush last election.....They traditionally had voted democrat in the past but not in the last two elections.....Wait strike that the south did unaimously vote for Bush over both Kerry and Gore...

In fact with the exception the Clinton years abd the 1968 elections where they voted for wallace, the deep south has voted republican every election since 1964... oh yeah and Carter had the South in the 76 election

no real vote here BUT............
politically tend to be conservative, Bush may not be doing "great"(quantify however you like) but DO NOT think Kerry would have been any good at all.

Re Racing. Racing is great. LEFT TURN ONLY = BAD
so nascar\conservative mix thing alluded to doesnt apply here
Rally racing F1, or Road racing courses rock though!!!!! (wrx driver speaking hear) anyone can drive fast in a straight line or only turn left in a left turn only car. Try to follow me thru the twisties esp. on snow or dirt and my grocerery-grabber subby will make u wish u had one.

ps there's still hope for commies but im really sorry about the small penis european thing (you may find a woman who really believes size dosent matter or just luck out and have the biggest She's seen....:D :D )

I think you'll find people from all walks of life, covering the whole political spectrum in a pool room.
I AGREE COMPLETELY

Pool has always been a great equalizer and its been call such many times

personal exp proves this. Have played with some of the poorest and richest, and have been in ring games with Judges and Criminals trying to team up.....

Well, perhaps if you weren't among the people who we Europeans like to poke fun of, I guess you would've understood that the "commie & small penis" comment wasn't a reference to myself but rather a quip of how 'mericans often perceive us Europeans. Hence, I rest my case.

I don't like NASCAR, when I cared about car racing I liked Formula I.
Bush is better than Kerry, but that isn't saying much.
Since I'm from Massachusetts a 1 party state in a 2 party nation I see no purpose served by my voting and haven't voted since 1967 (and that was an absentee ballot).
I don't agree with any of the choices in your poll.

I just saw a re-run of last night's Lou Dobbs on CNN showing the latest approval rating of Bush -- and, lo & behold, those numbers showed almost the same approval rating for him as this AzB poll... so I guess pool players do pretty much make up teh same distribution as the rest of the country. Of course, the standard deviation (to use a statistical term) of the qualitative versus the quantitative is kind of whacked since only 25 contributed to this poll so far ;^)
