Pool Players with Charisma

I think you are crazy

I have watched the "Fats" interview from 1985 several times. I noticed something that I think is common among great performers. If you watch the interview... toward the end Fats doesn't blink for about the last 30 sec of his "speach". I wonder if anybody else caught this amazing focus, even when he was just talkin. I might be crazy. What does everyone think about my observation?

I think you are crazy, that doesn't make you wrong, just crazy! :D :grin-square:

I thought Jimmy Mataya inherited Fats' position. He created action with
flair and jump-started the action for many others.

Valley Forge - 1989 - Joe Kerr - td
Last match ends but the stands are full and nobody's leaving.
Many people are eyeing each other but no one's making a move.

Jimmy Mataya steps into the empty arena, just him and 16 Diamonds.
He's wearing a black suit,black shoes,black shirt and a black tie.
He's also wearing a broad-brimmed hat and an expensive long coat....
..yeah.they were black too.

He opens his coat, puts his hands on his hips and turns slowly 360 degrees.
Now that he has everyone's attention,he says 'I'm gonna bust the first
man who stands up.'
Buddy and Nick grinned at each other but didn't interfere...they knew
what he was doing.

Within 20 minutes there were 5 action tables going.Jimmy's still not
playing but his money was involved in every one.
When Jimmy was in his prime, like Keith,he had the bravado that makes
people smile in admiration.

Allen Hopkins won that tournament.which started a beautiful relationship.

Jimmy lost his first match to Harry Platis. All weekend he was saying 'I can't
give you nothin',i couldn't even beat a lawyer.'
