i am traveling to San Francisco tomorrow thru Friday and was wondering if anyone can tell me a good room to go to with some good tables and players. please send me a PM with any info you have. thank you in advance for all that help.

There's a room in Mountain View that used to be nice. Family Billiards is a nice room and has a triple shimmed table in the very front that is near impossible to run racks on, but I have seen Rafael Martinez do it:) .

I believe you should check out Family Billiards.

I've been there as an out-of towner. It's a nice place with a good bar and as I recall decent food. Decent (GC) tables with one or a couple stupid-tight tables near the front window. Seemed like a fine area.

Family Billiards is the only room now located in San Francisco proper. It is a nice room, and the owner, Delbert Wong, is a nice guy. BCA instructor Tom Seymour teaches out of there. There are many other rooms in the suburbs and Oakland area. California Billiard Club is a nice room in Mountainview, which is 1/2 hour south of San Fran.

I would check out Shoreline Billiards in Mountain View -- they got really good tables (especially table #4), good and super nice players (Bob Jewett, Eric Harada, etc.) http://www.shorelinebilliards.com/map.html

There are three pool rooms now in SF. Family Billiards is probably the most likely to be what you're looking for. It's a ways from downtown. Jillian's is right downtown, but the tables are not exactly Diamonds with 860, and I don't think I've ever seen a good player in there. The connected restaurant has reasonable prices for lunch, and you might get to play for free with lunch. The third room is the Billiard Palacade at Mission and Geneva at the south end of SF. They have three or four carom tables, and some fairly good pool players at times. Also listed by Google Maps is "King Kong" downtown, but I have no idea of what kind of place it is. Let us know.:p That seems to be it if you are restricted to a short or not so short cab ride.

Close by, there is the Broken Rack in Emeryville (say hello to Wayne for me), Town and Country in Daly City, and the two rooms in Mountain View (Shoreline -- say hello to me -- and California Billiard Club) mentioned before. There are also other rooms in San Mateo, Oakland and Berkeley. Google Maps seems to show them all.
