Pool room in Seoul Korea

Play no-pocket! If you want to gamble, ask someone for the following handicap- they play 3cushion, you play carom.

Billiards rules!

I'd suggest looking for pool tables near U.S. military facilities or ask a service man if you see one. Don't think they have that many actual pool halls there. Saw an interview with Ga Young Kim where she said she only learned the basics of pocket billiards a few months before her first trip to the United States.

As above. Found few pool rooms there last time i went , but none with pockets.....

What part of Seoul were you in?

I usually stay at the JW Marriott, and you can walk around and find pool rooms all over. Just look for signs with the colored balls and sticks.

Almost all of the places I went to, have one "pocket ball" table.
But according to the Korean players, those tables are for women and children.

I played some carom ball while I was there and they all told me I was pretty good...but I gotta tell ya, it was all feel. I was just shooting and hoping to get it right. If you are scoring 5-7 caroms (50-70 points) per inning, then I guess you're doing good.
Every game of carom ball or 3 cushion in Korea is for money.....whether you know it or not. The loser pays the table time...for each game.

If you want to play some 8 ball or 9 ball in the Seoul area, just go to Itaewon at night. It's not far from Marriott. Most of the bars have pocketed tables, and plenty of people to play with. You might even be able to get some money games.

Are you there now?

I agree with going to iteawon in the Seoul area, check out three stooges on saturdays for a pretty good 8 ball game and some killer!!

If you need to know anything just hit me up on yahoo IM. I just left there after living there for 2 years. I will do whatever I can to help.

Will be going there later this month. Staying at Namdeamun area, so Itewon is a little far from hotel. Thanks for the suggestion anyway. Any idea what the table charges are like over there? So far , of all the countries i know, the highest table charges in Switzerland, CHF 24 per hour.

I honestly don't think I ever paid for table time ever there. Unless you go to the Carom Cafe in Suwon which the you will have to pay. I don't know what you mean when you say all the games were for money. I played many a times with locals and tourists and the only thing that was ever bought. I know the army cats are usually always easy money.

pool in korea

hi i'm currently stationed in korea so maybe i can help a little i'm not to familiar with the area you are staying. But there should be no problem finding a place to play pocket ball, also give carom a try you find that the room owners will help you the tend to like recruit the local kids and teach them how to play. If you go to an bar aimed at service members you usually don't have to pay and the equipment is usually in decent condition.
For places that charge it's usually hourly and its something like 6 or 7,000
won an hour, which is now, like 4.50 to 5.50 but that includes "cola" or iced coffee on the house lol.
