Pool Room Music

What songs come to mind that make the whole pool experience more enjoyable...?

I love anything by Steely Dan;Deacon Blues,Peg,Hey Nineteen,Black Cow,Babylon Sisters,etc...

Also Boz Scaggs and Chuck Mangione's"Give it all you got" is my "fight" song..Just hearing it makes me wanna put a 5 pack on somebody!:D

You play Bob Seger's "Turn the Page" and I will go into another world. It takes me back to the first time I won a grand. I was invincible for almost two days after that.

Since I can't find a pool room that has any contemporary jazz on the juke box, I have to settle for classic rock...Doors, Santana, Allman Brothers, and if I'm lucky, some Grateful Dead. I would think I was in Heaven if I could find one that played Steely Dan, the Rippingtons, Spyro Gyra or anything along those lines.

Anything AC/DC but if you want to see me shoot balls out you would have to put in "shoot to thrill." Something about that song while playing pool makes my hair stand up. I just go into a zone. other favorites would have to be:

2. Hotel california
3. Bad to the bone

Some of my all time favorites.....Nazareth "hair of the dog", Foghat "Slow ride", Bob Segar "main street", Mountain "Mississippi Queen", ZZ Top "Le Grange"...ah sweet memories!

I think that's probably it...the music hooked to memories. Most people tend to go for the music they enjoyed in their youth...so for me, "oldies"
rock...anything pre 1970 or so...

Jim Croce, I like him. When I'm at the Hall I hear nothing, Just see the green. It is somewhat bothersome because I like good music.

Floyd. Dark Side of the Moon. And then maybe Animals. And the entire albums, not just individual tracks.

I love that song "young lust"..it gets the juices flowing!

Its got to be Warewolves of London by the late Warren Zevon. I almost wanted to memorize crusies little dance as I was about to beat someone outta money. But then again thats not pool, thats a circus!

anything other than country or blugrass music drives me nuts.I consider music in a pool room is annoyance/public nuicense/health hazzard/torture.

My favorite part is when Cruise runs his hand over his hair during the lyrics "his hair was perfect". I find myself doing that when I hear that part of the song.

I hear ya on that one, The Blues is hard to beat :)

I have mostly enjoyed listening to Blues and Jazz, but my favourite music styles, when shooting, is New Orleans Piano Blues, guys like Tuts Washington - "Tipitina", "Pool Hall Blues", "Forty Four Blues", Dr John - "Honeydripper", "Such A Night", or else I'll happily slam on some Boogie Woogie, with Albert Ammons thumping out the original version of "Bass Goin' Crazy", "Suitcase Blues", or Jimmy Yancey strolling out, "How Long Blues" and a few others :)

Delta and Chicago Blues is also great to listen too, BB King, Howlin' Wolf, Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, John Lee Hooker, to name a few :)

Another favourite is the "Color Of Money" soundtrack album, Dire Straits, Jim Croce, Arlo Guthrie's "City Of New Orleans", Count Basie and his orchestra, Fats Waller, and many others :)

usually i always shoot pool at a pretty loud bar. last night some drunks decided to start having a dance party right by the table we were playing on. so i decided i had to mess it up for 'em. haha. these are the songs i put on
slayer - raining blood
hatebreed - to the threshold
johnny cash - don't think twice (it's alright)
social distortion - when she begins
steve earle - copperhead road
george jones - choices
kevin fowler - triple crown
brad paisley - me neither
there were a few more too.

as for preference, i don't really care, i just got tired of hearing that 'fergalicious' song over and over last night. haha
